Sal DeRoseMar 15, 2011

A huge lightweight battle for the July 2nd, UFC 132 card will take place between Melvin Guillard and Shane Roller.

Guillard is coming off an impressive victory against Evan Dunham at UFC: Fight for the Troops 2 where he stopped Dunham in the first round by TKO.

Guillard is on a four fight win streak with his last loss coming to Nate Diaz who submitted "the Young Assassin". Guillard has amassed a 27-8-2 record with 1 no contest and is 10-4 since he began fighting in the Octagon.

Guillard was also a participant as a welterweight on The Ultimate Fighter 2 where he lost his first elimination bout to Josh Burkman.

Roller on the other hand is coming off of two straight victories. He had a huge victory at the UFC on Versus 3 card just a couple of weeks ago where he stopped Thiago Taveres by TKO in the second round.

Roller's last loss came against former WEC lightweight champion, and top UFC lightweight, Anthony Pettis at WEC 50.

Both fighters though are coming off impressive performances where they earned the "Knockout of the Night" bonus award for each of their respective fights.

"Both of these guys are coming off of Knockout of the Night winning performances," UFC President Dana White said in the UFC.com article announcing the two fighters had verbally agreed to fight.

Guillard hasn't fought since January 22nd and was ready to go as soon as possible after his victory over Dunham.

"I don't even like waiting three months to fight to be honest with you," Guillard said after the TKO victory over Dunham.

UFC 132 is set to go down on July 2nd, 2011 in Las Vegas. This is the only fight so far for July Fourth weekend card.
