Dan Koppen Recent Interview: "We Want to Play Football"
In a recent interview on NFL Sirius radio, New England Patriots center Dan Koppen was a guest along with the hosts Howard David and Dan Leberfeld.
Following the NFLPA decertification Friday, David and Leberfeld wanted to get Koppen's opinions on the current situation:
"We want to play football. The public wants us to play football. The owners want us to play football. So as a player, it's kind of hard for me to understand why we can't reach a deal somehow. Whether it was our side, or their side, it doesn't really matter, there is no deal."

Also during the interview, Koppen went onto to explain how players do understand "both ends of the spectrum":
“I think you have both ends of the spectrum, really. I think our union does a good job of telling us the truth, and I think the player reps do a good job. Whether each individual NFL player wants to understand it, that’s really on their own, if they want to go study it, read about it, talk to people about it. That’s one thing our player reps can’t control. I can’t speak for everybody else in the league that they understand it or not, but I can tell you that we’re united as a union. It’s not a union anymore, but we’re united in our goals and where we want to be.”
To conclude the interview, Koppen shared his feelings on what's about to come and used a Bill Belichick pharse ("it is what it is") in his answer:
"Its run its course. It is what it is," he told David and Leberfeld. "Now there really is nothing left to talk about, so now it's just going to be people blaming each other and trying to get the public on their side. That's the people we're feeling sorry for right now."
