WWE News: Update No. 2 Shad Gaspard Saga Conitinues

Gone Baby GoneMar 8, 2011

That's right folks—just when you thought it was over, here we go again.

TMZ is reporting that Columbus Police Sgt. Rich Weiner said the following regarding WWE's Shad Gaspard:

"Gaspard was observed by an officer walking in the roadway and obstructing traffic."

He says Gaspard ignored an officer's request to get out of the street and refused to provide the officer with ID when asked several times.

Sgt. Weiner added, "according to the report, the officer then tried to arrest Gaspard, but he broke free from the officers as they attempted to take him into custody."

I guess the public will have to form their own opinion, as it sounds like Shad may have been at fault for this situation.

Man, this drama is neverending. For those of you that missed it, here is the recap.

Saturday March 5th

Gaspard was arrested in Columbus, Ohio. The report states Gaspard was cuffed for allegedly jaywalking. Former UFC champ Josh Barnett and Gaspard's wife, Siliana, were with him during the arrest.

Siliana felt there was excessive force used, especially since Shad showed no signs of resisting arrest. She told TMZ, "Shad got into a kneeling position to show he was not resisting...but the cops shoved his face into the dirt anyway."

Barnett also stood by Shad and took to his Twitter page, stating, "Shad Gaspard arrested because a Columbus officer abuses his authority. False jaywalking charge + attitude turns to handcuffs and tackling."

Obviously law enforcement officials have a different story, stating, "He was arrested for resisting arrest and obstructing official business."

At one point in a video of the incident, Gaspard is heard saying, "Why am I being arrested? Because I'm big and I'm black?"

Monday March 7th

TMZ lands a video of the arrest and statement from Gaspard, stating: "[Gaspard] feels he's the victim of racial profiling—and claims during his ride to the police station, he heard the arresting officer saying, 'He's just one more...'"

Shad adds, "I don't know exactly what to do yet, but I will fight this as much as possible."

He continued, "I'm not doing it for the money, I have the means, I'm doing this so cops don't think they can do this to someone else...it's not right."
