NFL Draft 2011: Top 10 Funniest and Weirdest NFL Draft Moments (Video)

Brian ShannonApr 10, 2011

The NFL Draft has become one of the most popular sports events of the year, and now it has become a three-day extravaganza.

For the amount of footage that is shown and the number of picks that are made, the NFL Draft has run quite smoothly over the years, but there have still been a fair share of funny and weird moments.

From draft-day waits, to outrageous fan reactions, we have it all covered in this list.

Here are the top 10 moments, with all but one caught on tape.

Ryan Kalil Prepares for the 2007 Draft

1 of 10

Ryan Kalil has become one of the top centers in the league, going to the Pro Bowl in 2009 and 2010, and it's obvious from this video that he has Will Ferrell to thank.

Ferrell helped sharpen Kalil's pass protection skills before the 2007 draft, helping him land in the second round.

Kevin Kolb Is Shown Some Brotherly Love

2 of 10

Eagles fans at the draft did not approve of the selection of quarterback Kevin Kolb, but was anyone really surprised by this?

Kolb can expect to get booed again now that he is most likely on his way out of Philadelphia.

As we know Philly fans boo pretty much anyone and everyone (Santa) so this clip should come as no surprise, and neither should our next video...

But Not Nearly as Much Love as McNabb Received...

3 of 10

The title of this video is "Eagles fans are smart," obviously booing McNabb didn't turn out to be the right thing to do, but you never know who will pan out in the NFL Draft.

The Dolphins Need a Quarterback...Just Not This Quarterback

4 of 10

Brady Quinn was expected to be drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the third pick in the 2007 draft, but when that didn't happen he would surely become a Dolphin with the ninth pick right?

Nope. Ted Ginn became Miami's pick and Quinn looked as surprised as anyone when the selection was read.

It's Finally Quinn's Time

5 of 10

But I thought the Browns didn't want Quinn? Now they are trading up to get him with their second pick in the first round?

It turns out the Browns knew what they were doing all along when they nabbed Joe Thomas with their first pick in the 2007 draft and waited until later in the first to get the player everyone thought they wanted all along.

Quinn has not panned out but the Browns made yet another good move when they shopped him for running back Peyton Hillis before last season.

Maurkice Pouncey Is Very Happy About Being a Steeler

6 of 10

Maurkice Pouncey was clearly quite excited to become a Steeler in this video, and who wouldn't be?

But Maurkice you aren't going to the Eagles, you're going to the Steelers, so take it easy on the brotherly love.

All eyes will be on his brother Mike in this year's draft as the Pouncey bros look to go in the first round in back-to-back drafts.

And We're Live...

I think someone forgot to tell Jon Gruden that he is on the air in this clip, or maybe he just didn't care.

I guess that's just Chucky being Chucky.

Mr. Irrelevant 2009

8 of 10

It's hard to say what all of the commotion is for in this video, but there sure is a lot of it. Is it for:

A. The founder of Mr. Irrelevant Week

B. Mr. Irrelevant Ryan Succop

C. The end of the draft

D. All of the above

I would have to put my money on A, because I can't fathom people being excited that the draft is over, who can get enough of it?

I couldn't find any video footage of this draft day debacle but it was too weird not to include on the list, the Vikings first round pick was skipped in 2003 when they did not make their pick in time.

Minnesota was supposed to have the seventh pick in the draft but they were too busy talking trade to get their selection in, so when the clock ran out, the Jags were now on the clock.

Jacksonville hurried to make their pick of Byron Leftwich and the Panthers took Jordan Gross.

The Vikings were now ready to make their pick and with the ninth selection they took defensive tackle Kevin Williams, the player they supposedly wanted all along. It turned out to be alright because Williams is a five-time All-Pro.

And with the First Pick of the 2007 NFL Draft the Oakland Raiders Select...

10 of 10

Whoops.

OK so maybe this video is funnier to me than it is to others since I am a Chiefs fan, but to be fair to Raiders fans JaMarcus is just another bust in a long line of quarterback busts such as Tim Couch, Akili Smith and Cade McNown.

I'm sure the JaMarcus talk will die down in the next few years, but let's be honest Raiders fans, you love being hated, and with the Raiders on the cusp of resurgence, the rest of the league is prepared to hate.
