Big Ten Tenacity: Week Five Power Poll
Michael ClineSep 28, 2008
Big Ten Conference Play is underway! And what a great opening weekend it turned out to be:
- We all thought that Wisconsin was going to win in Ann Arbor for the first time since the early '90's, but the Wolverines had other plans. They came back from a 19-0 halftime deficit to beat the Badgers 27-25.
- Penn State, No. 2 in the Tenacity Poll last week, held off Illinois 38-24 and are starting their season 5-0 for the first time since 2005.
- The Buckeyes hosted Minnesota at Ohio Stadium and buried the Golden Gophers with 414 yards of total offense. Watch out Big Ten, the Wells/Pryor tandem is in full swing.
- To much surprise, Northwestern has started their season off with a 5-0 record for the first time in 46 years! The Wildcats went into Iowa City and scored four times on a much talked about Hawkeye defense. The final score: 22-17.
- Javon Ringer added to his season rushing yard total of 897 with 198 on Saturday against the Hoosiers. Michigan State beat Indiana 42-29.
In non-conference play, the Purdue Boilermakers fell to Notre Dame, as the Fighting Irish score 24 of their 38 total points in the second half.
