Alabama vs Georgia, The Aftermath
If you all saw the Alabama vs Georgia match-up Saturday afternoon you may be wondering, is the Tide for real, and how did they beat Georgia so soundly or how could Georgia lose in its undefeated blackout that they made the fans do.
Well I, Joe Burgett, am here to tell you all. If you read my article Joe's Stunner of the Week: Alabama over Georgia you may know what I said would be their keys to victory. If not I'll tell you, the way for them to win was with a good O-line, good D-line, and John Parker Wilson.
Since Wilson did just OK last week against Arkansas I had my worries, I mean the running game was awesome so really he didn't need to throw to much, and I'm glad he didn't. But on Saturday to beat The Bulldogs, he had to step his game up. And if you all saw, I believe he did do just that.
I mean that O-line was terrific, kudos to Andre Smith and Antoine Caldwell, they totally ran over Georgia's D-line. And what about the defense, they held Heisman hopeful Knowshawn Moreno to the 20s in rushing, sure he had a touchdown, but it was around garbage time when he did.
I saw that Georgia did the all black thing, where everyone including the fans wore black, they call it "The Blackout" in which they were undefeated while wearing. Basically it set up nicely for their funeral, after The Alabama Crimson Tide scored on their first 5 drives of the game.
And making it 31-0 in the first half. The Experts were beside themselves wondering, how could Alabama, this Alabama be beating this Georgia team so soundly? It was like they were refusing to make mistakes. In the second half they keep it up, just getting time off the clock and scoring a few more points to make victory so much sweeter.
And it was so sweet for the Tide faithful, I mean Georgia did fight until the end scoring 30 points in the second half, but by then it was to late, Alabama was at 41 points and Georgia couldn't come back.
How did This Tide team beat Georgia? Well it is very simple, TEAMWORK. Not one person on this team would be considered a Heisman candidate, not one. Why? because there is no one go to guy like a Moreno for Georgia.
So since three running backs were played for Bama, and we didn't even see Terry Grant that game who lead the team in rushing last season, and we saw an excellent Offensive line, an poised Quarterback who lead the team and didn't turn the ball over, and good defense.
You couldn't put it on one guys shoulders, because they all did so well. The definition of Teamwork. and as for Georgia, people ask did they beat themselves, by causing unneeded turnovers? I would say no to those people. Why? because Georgia didn't beat themselves.
The Alabama Crimson Tide beat The Georgia Bulldogs. Hands down, so where will the Tide end up in the rankings, who knows, maybe number one or number two. Wherever they land will be deserved.
But what do you think, is Alabama a potential title contender?
