Friday Night Fights: Ismayl Sillakh Defeats Cuban Olympian Yordanis Despaigne

Live results will be posted for this week's edition of ESPN Friday Night Fights beginning at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

The main event features Ismayl Sillakh (14-0, 12 KO) and Yordanis Despaigne (8-0, 4 KO) in a 10-round light-heavyweight bout. Despaigne compiled a amateur record of 302-16 before turning pro in 2008.

The co-main event will be a 10-round welterweight bout between Freddie Norwood (43-3) and Ray Narh (24-1).

Opening bout: Freddie Norwood vs. Ray Narh

Round 1—Cautious stars by both fighters as they feel each other out. Narh is working well from the outside; he has a seven inch height advantage. The shorter Norwood clinches with Narh as the round comes to a close. Not much happening in this round. 10-9 Narh

Round 2—Punch stats from round one: Norwood 10/34, Narh 21/69. Narh is wild with his punches, but they are landing often. Norwood clinches again as he tries to do inside work. Both fighters fight from the clinch, and Norwood lands a few left hands. 10-9 Norwood

Round 3—Narh lands a left hand to open up the round. He lands a follow up right hand and Norwood clinches. Norwood is looking for the counter punch, and Narh lands a combination as he falls into another clinch. Norwood is avoiding the right hand well, but he isn’t throwing enough power shots to make Narh respect him. Good round for Narh. 10-9 Narh

Punch stats through three rounds: Norwood 28/100, Narh 73/238.

Round 4—Both boxers land counter right hands. Norwood lands a short left and Narh stumbles. Narh lands a right hand and throws consecutive body shots. A nice jab lands for Narh, and he follows up with a left hand. Norwood lands a punch over Narh’s guard. 10-9 Narh

Round 5—Narh throws ten jabs as Norwood waits for an opening. Narh is exclusively using the jab in this round. With half the round to go, Norwood opens up with four right hands. Norwood is not throwing much. Narh lands a nice uppercut and a body shot. Narh’s body shots are doing damage on the 40-year-old. 10-9 Narh

Jabs through five rounds: Norwood 3/60, Narh 49/196.

Round 6—Fighters exchange hooks in the opening seconds of the round. Narh is landing the jab almost every time he throws it so far this round. Norwood lands a left hand to end the round, but Norwood landed and threw more. 10-9 Narh

Round 7—Norwood throws a low blow; the second one of the bout. Narh opens up with uppercuts and body shots. Narh falls to the canvas after Norwood pushes his head down. Norwood lands a series of punch and Norwood returns with a left hand. 10-9 Narh

Round 8—Narh lands a right hand and an uppercut that makes Norwood clinch. Narh is really unloading halfway through the round, and Norwood is backing up. Best round for Narh so far. 10-9 Narh

Punches in round eight: Norwood 3/25, Norwood 19/55.

Round 9—A minute through, and Norwood hasn’t thrown anything. Narh is throwing jabs, body shots, right hands and uppercuts. Norwood will need something big to steal the victory from Narh. Narh lands a few right hands to end the round. Referee deducts two points from Norwood for throwing a punch to the back of Narh’s head. 10-7 Narh

Round 10—Norwood lands a left hand to start the last round. He is opening up now, but it’s probably too late. They clinch, and Norwood throws a series of body punches. Norwood misses a left hand, and Narh lands a right. 10-9 Narh

Judges score it unanimously for Ray Narh. Scores are 99-89, 100-88 and 100-88.

Main Event: Yordanis Despaigne vs. Ismayl Sillakh

Round 1—Despaigne countering effectively early, but Sillakh is keeping the pressure on him with jabs. Despaigne is looking for the counter over Sillakh’s left. Close round. 10-9 Sillakh

Round 2—Despaigne opens up with a left hook that lands on the chin of Sillakh. Sillakh throws a good jab, and he is using it to set up his right hand. Despaigne goes wide with the left and lands a right hand. Sillakh misses with a left uppercut and lands a right hand. Despaigne is hyped up, and is pressuring Sillakh to fight. A right hand puts Despaigne down fast, but he recovers in time for the bell. He's rocked. Huge round for Sillakh. 10-8 Sillakh

Round 3—Sillakh opens the round with a flurry and Despaigne still seems rocked. Despaigne pounds his chest as Sillakh sits back. Despaigne’s face is bloody and Sillakh showboats while landing a combination. Sillakh lands a left hook followed by a right hand. Despaigne is throwing, but Sillakh is smooth on his feet and undamaged. Both of Despaigne’s eyes are cut. Another good round for Sillakh. 10-9 Sillakh

Round 4—Despaigne is pressuring Sillakh early and looking for the left hook. Both fighters punch to the body. Despaigne gets Sillakh on the ropes and attacks with a flurry. 10-9 Despaigne

Round 5—Despaigne lands two jabs and a right hand. Despaigne lands a nice combination while Sillakh leans on the ropes. Despaigne runs into an uppercut but lands a left hook and right hand. Wide right misses by Despaigne. Sillakh lands a right over the top of Despaigne’s left. 10-9 Despaigne

Round 6—Despaigne throws three jabs to open up the round. Sillakh lands a right hand, and Despaigne returns with a left over the top. Despaigne has abandoned the jab in this round, and Sillakh is boxing well. Sillakh is throwing left hooks inside and landing them. Despaigne's trunks are covered in blood. 10-9 Sillakh

Round 7—Jabs through six rounds: Despaigne 48/182, Sillakh 68/202. Despaigne lands a right hand and Sillakh throws a jab followed by a quick flurry. Despaigne misses with a sweeping left. It’s not the first time, and Sillakh is countering them well. Sillakh lands a stiff jab and a left hand. Despaigne’s face is bleeding again. Sillakh throws a right that lands right on Despaigne’s eye. 10-9 Sillakh

Power punches in round seven: Despaigne 3/13, Sillakh 15/25.

Round 8—Both boxers look to reestablish their jab in this round. Despaigne may already need a knockout so his pressure will be a key factor down the stretch. Sillakh lands a nice counter, but Despaigne still pushes forward and throws a wide left. Despaigne unloads a left and right, but neither lands. Despaigne needs a knockout. 10-9 Sillakh

Round 9—Despaigne pressures Sillakh, but he is keeping his compsure knowing he may already have the fight won on the scorecards. Despaigne lands a right, and Sillakh isn’t throwing much. Despaigne has lost focus on throwing the jab and is looking for a left hook. Sillakh lands two jabs to the body and head of Despaigne. Despaigne lunges forward and lands a left. Sillakh closes the round that may have stole the round. 10-9 Sillakh

Punch stats through nine rounds: Despaigne, 136/506, Sillakh 237/594.

Round 10—Despaigne pushes forward while Sillakh sits on the outside. Sillakh lands a short left and right and moves away quickly as Despaigne tries to counter. Short left hook from Sillakh lands. Last 10 seconds, and Sillakh avoids any attack Despaigne may have left. Impressive showing by Sillakh. 10-9 Sillakh
