NFL News and Rumors: NFLPA and NFL Working on 10-Day Extension for CBA
Last evening, the National Football League and the Players Association worked out a deal to extend the deadline for the collective bargaining agreement for 24 hours.
Jason La Canfora at the NFL Network has reported that the NFL Players Association will begin the decertification process today, unless the league agrees to a 10-day extension.
The NFL plans to meet with mediator George H. Cohen this morning in order to discuss possible terms for an extension.

Most of the owners left Washington as early as Wednesday.
NFLPA representatives will not be attending Friday's session either.
This means that the 24-hour extension was simply to allow commissioner Roger Goodell adequate time to gain the needed authorization to "stop the clock" on the current collective bargaining agreement for the next 10 days.
If things do not go as planned, the Players Association is prepared to begin the decertification process as early as 4:00 p.m. ET this afternoon.
Yesterday, Sports Illustrated writer Jim Trotter gave insight as to what this would mean via Twitter:
"SOURCE TO SI: If union decertifies & is locked out, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady & Drew Brees will be lead plantiffs in antitrust lawsuit v NFL"
In simple terms, things could get ugly very quick.
During today's 24-hour extension, teams are free to continue operation under the current collective bargaining agreement. Players can still be released, signed from free agency or offered contract extensions.
