Carmelo Anthony's Exit Strategy: He Writes a Note To Mend Denver's Broken Hearts

Joye PruittMar 4, 2011

While Chauncey Billups sat out practice, doubtful for the Knicks' next game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Carmelo Anthony took the time to write a letter expressing his appreciation for the fans that he entertained for years as a Denver Nugget.

In the letter, he says that he feels the need to express how he felt about the fans and the organization. This coming after the fans and media felt like he was a major distraction to the team, and the home crowd held nothing back as they booed him on several occasions.

It was slightly reminiscent of the LeBron James exit, however, the way Anthony is handling it after the fact is admirable.

Writing a letter to the fans may not be the icing on the cake to a mended relationship, but it definitely is a start to making them understand how important they were to him and how much he held them in high regard.

After LeBron failed to hit the last second shot to win the game against the Knicks, he held his former Team USA teammate in a warm embrace while most likely exchanging words of congratulations, comfort, and support for his decision to become a New York player.

He could have even been giving a few words of advice post game to how Anthony should handle the dismantling of the Nuggets and his sloppy trade.

This was a good move professionally and politically by Anthony. Now, all he needs to do is win. Because, to be completely honest, nobody cares about anything else when you win.
