The Fantasy Football Effect

Week 4 has some very interesting games and some very interesting match-ups. After taking everything into consideration, here’s what I think is going to happen in week 4:

Cowboys offense: Start ‘em

That’s right, Guy, I’m telling anyone that owns any offensive starters for the Cowboys to start ‘em. I really liked how balanced the Cowboys’ offense was against Green Bay. That being said, I don’t think that the Redskin defense is as good as the Packers defense. Landry is an exception, but there’s no way that LaRon Landry can cover Terrell Owens, Jason Witten and Miles Austin and help the run defense at the same time. Barring a string of mental errors, I think we could be running the score up by halftime.

Cowboys defense/special teams: Start ‘em

This is a conditional start ‘em. They put up good points last week against the Packers, but if you started them against the Eagles in week two, they were disappointing. I like consistency more than anything in fantasy footbal. I like the easy calls. That’s why I got the Ravens defense early in my draft. So, if you don’t have another defense or another option is easily availible (Bills D/ST against the Rams, owned in 86% of ESPN fantasy leagues or Broncos D/ST against the Chiefs, owned in 33% of ESPN fantasy leagues), start the Dallas D/ST.

QB’s
J.T. O’Sullivan: Start ‘em.
O’Sullivan is the real deal. He’s matched up against a Saints defense that should wear paper bags over their heads. Give O’Sullivan the nod in week 4, you won’t be disappointed.

Donovan McNabb: Sit ‘em.
Donovan is nursing an injury, and the Bears are still one of the better defenses in the NFC. Westbrook is also questionable, which is a big loss for McNabb. The best place for McNabb this week is on the bench.

RB’s
Steve Slaton: Start ‘em.
Slaton ripped off a 100-yard game and a touchdown against one of the best defenses in the NFL. Slaton should have another good Sunday against the Jags.

Clinton Portis: Sit ‘em.
There is one thing I know about the Dallas D: it’s stingy against the run. Sit him, RG.

WR’s
Braylon Edwards: Start ‘em.
Remember last year’s Bengals/Browns shootout? Braylon Edwards had a huge game against the Browns and if you own him, he should put up at least one decent point total this week (some further advice: if Edwards has a big game, TRADE HIM AFTER THIS WEEK! I own Edwards in my league, and I’m going to see what I can get for him after this game)

Santonio Holmes: Sit ‘em.
Holmes has been as much of a frustration for fantasy owners as Edwards has. Holmes will continue to struggle against the Ravens.

D/ST
Eagles D/ST: Start ‘em.
If the Eagles can put pressure on Tony Romo and force him into mistakes, they’ll definitely be able to harass Kyle Orton into a mistake or two.

Redskins D/ST: Sit ‘em.
No. Just no.
