WWE Superstar Discussion: King Sheamus' Fall from Grace

For this discussion, I will talk about King Sheamus and mainly his current position (or lack thereof) in WWE.

Sheamus made his first WWE appearance on the June 30, 2009 episode of ECW, and didn't take long for him to make a name for himself.

He defeated the WWE Champion John Cena at the December pay-per-view TLC. Sheamus would drop the belt at Elimination Chamber, but, with a little help from the Nexus, he would win it back at Fatal 4-Way.

He would continue this reign until Night of Champions, where he lost to Randy Orton.

So, with the history lesson out of the way, let's talk about the real reason behind this article:

What Has Happened to Sheamus Since He Became King of the Ring?

Sheamus was crowned the King of the Ring (KOTR) on Nov. 29, 2010. Since then, Sheamus has done absolutely nothing and isn't far from being the worst King of the Ring ever.

How bad is Sheamus' current run?

He has not won a singles match since his King of the Ring victory. His only win came from a tag match where he and partner Alberto Del Rio defeated John Morrison and Mark Henry.

Sheamus is 1-18 since winning the KOTR.

It doesn't seem to be getting any better for Sheamus, either. On this past Raw, he was not only humiliated by Triple H, but he was also defeated by a returning Evan Bourne in an impromptu match.

I use the term "match" lightly, as Sheamus only lasted about a minute.

Why Has Sheamus' Character Been Damaged So Much?

I don't think there is really any good solid reason behind his current slump. I do know one thing, however; Sheamus reportedly got a "big head" when he won his second WWE Championship.

So much so, that WWE higher-ups may have decided to punish Sheamus by giving him the title of King of the Ring and then a 1-18 record since.

Honestly, when is the last time you have seen anyone give Sheamus any respect? I personally liked Sheamus and his angle because he was different and had a certain "draw" to him.

I think Sheamus is at the mercy of WWE right now, and they will decide when he starts to win again.
