Top-Ten Fantasy Running Backs (Week 4)

Aaron McGheeSep 26, 2008

The running backs are back and proving their worth in season leagues and continuing to carry teams in weekly cash tournaments here on DraftMix.com. Playing these match-ups are essential when competing on a weekly basis and they all need careful consideration when it’s your turn to draft. Every once and awhile a name may look good, but don’t let your heart do the drafting. Be sure to make the correct decisions at all points in your draft(s).

Marshawn Lynch- Lynch is going to rack up points and rack’em up fast so get your calculators ready or make sure you’re in front of live scoring. Allowing 185 yards and two rushing touchdowns per game, St. Louis is in for a long day. Projected Points-26

Reggie Bush- The Forty-Niners gave up 100 yards rushing to Edgerrin James, 127 yards to Julius Jones, and 131 total yards to Detroit’s Rudi Johnson. Bush is coming into his own as a professional runner and he will have another big weekend at home. Projected Points-24

Frank Gore- I like Gore on any surface this year and I especially like him on turf against a miserable New Orleans defense. Gore currently ranks fifth in rushing yards (287) and has scored a touchdown in each of the first three weeks of the season. Projected Points-22

LaDainian Tomlinson- It would take something extraordinary for the division rival Oakland Raiders to contain L.T. this week. The Raiders aren’t giving up too much in regards to yards but they have yielded a total of five rushing touchdowns through three games. Projected Points-20

Marion Barber- The Packers had a heckuva time trying to stop Lynch last week and right now Barber is playing the best football of his career. Washington has played well against the run, but they haven’t faced these Dallas weapons. Projected Points-20

Adrian Peterson- Last season it seemed whenever A.P. had tough match-ups he totally exploited the opposing defenses. Tennessee is allowing a modest 90 yards per game rushing with only two touchdowns through three games. A 100% healthy Peterson changes those stats for the worse. Projected Points-18

Larry Johnson- No, the Broncos aren’t Atlanta but they are giving up a lot defensively. Larry Johnson is finally back and realizes that he’s going to have to carry the Chiefs struggling offense. In an AFC West rivalry game I anticipate Johnson playing well. Projected Points-18

Maurice Jones-Drew- It’s difficult not putting Fred Taylor on here but let’s fact it Jones-Drew gets all the rushing touchdowns. Houston gave up 150 yards and two touchdowns to the Titans last week so anticipate Jones-Drew having another highly productive week. Projected Points- 17

Darren McFadden- Even though Thomas Jones struggled on MNF San Diego is just flat-out horrible defensively against the run and McFadden is on pace to rush for 1344 yards in his rookie campaign. Projected Points- 17

Michael Turner- The leagues leading rusher heads to one of the leagues better rushing defenses, in terms of rushing touchdowns allowed (one). It may be a tougher week this week with Atlanta in Carolina on a different playing surface (grass). However, Turner still produces numbers. Projected Points- 17
