2011 NFL Draft: 5 Players You Won't See in a Chief Uniform

Ron TepperMar 3, 2011

Granted, I am not a fortune teller, and if I am proven wrong, maybe I'll have my tail between my legs in two months.

That said, I know Scott Pioli, and I know how he thinks, and although there are many great athletes Chief fans are salivating over based on athletic ability alone in this year's draft, you may want to take the following six players off your list.

QB Ryan Mallett (Arkansas)

Mallett played in a pro-style offense and has tremendous size and arm strength. Don't think they'll take him though. First of all, he may be already gone. Second, he lacks accuracy, is frequently injured and most of all is an egotistical moron. Remember Ryan Leaf? Enough

TE Weslye Saunders (South Carolina)

Big-sized blocker with a really bad reputation. Immature, low football IQ, unprofessional work ethic and selfish. Even in the late rounds, forget it. He is probably already off their draft boards.

DT Marvin Austin (North Carolina)

This is a guy that is boom or bust with immense potential. He is tempting but they won't touch him. He is a guy who rarely gives much effort unless he's playing for a contract, he has a low football IQ, he is not a team player and he just came off a one-year suspension. Not exactly the résumé that Pioli is looking for.

DT Adrian Taylor (Oklahoma)

Despite the concerns about football IQ and being a "me first" player, he is overcoming injuries and always dinged up. Concerning the needs for DT, there are questions about him.

DE Aldon Smith (Missouri)

I know I'm going out on a limb here considering the Chiefs need a pass rusher and this is a talented kid who is a local product, but yes, he made my list. This kid has too much going against him.

He is raw, he barely knows or understands the game, he needs to develop his body, which will be hard because he can't add weight and still be a rush linebacker, he is coming off a major injury and he is also considered a "me first" player and certainly is no leader. Not Pioli's cup of tea, and don't be surprised if they pass on Akeem Ayers as well (although he will be considered
