Luis Moreno Suspended by Colombian Football Federation for Kicking Owl

Luis Moreno (who plays for the Colombian Football Team Pereira) was suspended two games by the Football Federation in the South American Country.

Moreno was also fined the equivalent of $560 for his offense. The reason was an inhumane act against an animal during a match.

During a match between Pereira and Junior, Moreno saw an owl on the ground and proceeded to kick it like a football.

The stadium was shocked and angered at what had happened. The police went and picked up the poor bird. The owl eventually died, with Moreno apologetic with his crocodile tears.

The result of the match was that Pereira lost to Junior, but for now this is less important than what transpired.

An athlete has to be a role model whether he or she likes it or not. The animals of the world (just like the infants and children) deserve to be treated with respect and kindness.

What Moreno did was horrible and deserves more than a two-game suspension. I personally would have suspended Moreno for the rest of the season, increased his fine to $400,000 and made him take anger management classes.

I also would have placed Luis Moreno in the same room with Ashley Cole without contact with the outside world. My reason is to see how two reckless personalities can deal with each other.

While this is just a personal opinion, I am going to do something realistic. Unless he is truly sorry for what he did, I will personally boycott any matches in which he is present.
