Serena Williams: Tennis Star Has Emergency Treatment For Blood Clot
Serena Williams underwent emergency treatment for a blood clot in her lungs on Monday and is recovering today in Cedars Hospital in Los Angeles, according to a report by People Magazine.
Nicole Chabot, a spokeswoman for Williams, said that the tennis star “underwent emergency treatment for a hematoma suffered as a result of treatment for a more critical situation."
This latest medical scare comes roughly a week after Williams suffered a pulmonary embolism, which was discovered while she was in Los Angeles.
Let's take a look at the latest on Williams' health situation.

Williams actually attended an Oscars party thrown by Elton John and Vanity Fair on Sunday night, but she was admitted to the hospital the following day.
She wrote on Twitter: "Tough day."
“Doctors are continuing to monitor her situation closely to avoid additional complications," Chabot said in a statement earlier today.

Williams, who has not played a match since June 3, said she cut her right foot on a piece of glass while in Germany the day after Wimbledon, and she has had numerous complications related to the injury.
She has undergone two surgeries, one in June and one in October, on the injured foot, and was hoping to return to training in the coming weeks.
Williams was scheduled to participate in the Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne from March 23-April 3, but tournament director Adam Barrett said she's not expected to play.
“We have not been officially notified about Serena’s condition, but we were concerned about her pulling out even before the emergency surgery because she has not been training,” Barrett said. “Our prayers are with her, and we wish her a speedy recovery. Serena is important to the game of tennis, and important to the Sony Ericsson Open. She has had great success here and been a fan favorite. She will be missed.”
Williams has dropped to No. 11 in the world since being sidelined last summer.
