UFC 127: Brian Ebersole Is a Weird Dude, but He Fights Pretty Well

Going into UFC 127, people had just one question about Brian Ebersole: Who is Brian Ebersole?

The MMA veteran was a relatively last minute replacement for Carlos Condit, who suffered a knee injury in training and was forced out of his fight with Chris Lytle.

Even being completely unknown to most UFC fans, Brian Ebersole managed to make a big impression on those in attendance and his PPV audience this Saturday night.

He strolled out to the Octagon with his Austin Powers-esque chest hair shaved into an arrow, pointing at his own head.

Within the first few seconds of the fight, he threw a cartwheel kick. Toward the end of the first round, he had top position and got up and walked away a good five seconds before the round ended.

Ebersole's unorthodox style continued throughout the whole fight, as he utilized some unusual fighting tactics, like shoulder strikes from guard. It seemed as though his style put Chris Lytle off his game a bit.

Lytle looked downright perplexed when Ebersole tried the cartwheel kick again in the third round.

We did learn a bit more about Brian Ebersole than the fact that he's strange, however. During the fight, he displayed a solid chin, as Lytle did tag him with a few heavy shots. He also showed us some good submission defense, thwarting Lytle's many guillotine, kimura and knee-bar attempts.

Brian Ebersole knew he was being handed a massive opportunity in fighting Chris Lytle and he made the most of it, outpointing Lytle on his way to a unanimous-decision victory.

While it's unfortunate that Carlos Condit had to be injured for Ebersole to get this opportunity, it's clear he will make an interesting addition to the UFC's welterweight division.

I don't know about you folks, but I'm looking forward to seeing him fight again.
