Missouri Tigers: Links, links and more links
I wanted to do a "Deep Thoughts by The True Son" post tonight but unfortunately (or maybe just fortunately) got bombarded with a myriad of Mizzou-related links that I feel obligated to pass along.
I might do the "Deep Thoughts" post on Sunday when I would regularly do my "Day After Reflections." I figure you'll need something to get you through the first Mizzouless weekend in a month.
- Let's start with some basketball stuff. First we have the 2008-2009 team picture! I think it's the best looking team pic since the 2003-2004 season. Why? Well there's no Jason Horton, of course!
- One other basketball link: Did you realize Darryl Butterfield and Vaidotus Volkus are playing professionally? I'm now firmly convinced I could be an NBA All-Star. Pretty sweet Web site though. You can basically find what every significant college basketball player from the past 15 years is up to.
- Now that we've got that basketball stuff out of the way, we can get back to reality. Great post by The Boy at Rock M about the unwarranted panic many Mizzou fans have shown. I've been complaining about this since the Illinois game. It's OK to worry about whether Mizzou is good enough to win on the road at Nebraska and Texas. It's fine to wonder whether the Tigers are physical enough to overtake Oklahoma. But don't be so concerned that you miss out on enjoying the final season for the greatest class in MU football history.
- Wonderful story in the Missourian about d-lineman and Iraq War veteran Zach Milligan.
- So if Bruce Springsteen were a college football player, he'd be Chase Daniel? At least that's what ESPN thinks:
We don't know why we like this one, honestly. They're both kind of bad ass. Daniel, a big kid from Texas now putting up insane numbers for Missouri (how did Mack Brown miss this guy?), seems like a dude who cranks "Hungry Heart" in the apartment with his boys.
We could be wrong; we were surprised as the next person that Michael Phelps listens to Lil' Wayne pretty much on loop. But it seems that a guy named "Chase Daniel" living in Columbia, Mo., should have some Springsteen on his gym playlist, even if it's after Kenny Chesney."
- This one's not related to Mizzou but it's a fantastic read about sportswriting from one of the best in the biz. I don't know if there's any realistic way to rank bloggers but I think it's reasonable to say Joe Posnanski is in the upper 10 percent of them. And he's easily one of the top 10-15 sports columnists in the country (I'd argue even higher than that). Pretty sure no one else in America can say that.
- Thanks to my buddy Wehm for this: For $15.99, this T-shirt can be yours:
