Alexandr Dolgopolov into Semifinals at Acalpuco Tournament

A strong contender since his run to the Australian Open quarterfinals, the Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov is making waves on the ATP tour again.

Seeded sixth at Tennis-Scores.aspx">Acapulco, Dolgopolov upset fourth-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka, 6-4, 7-6 (6) to advance to the tournament's semifinals against top-seeded David Ferrer.

The 22-year-old Ukrainian rocketed 11 aces, saved nine of 11 break points and returned 23 of Wawrinka's 50 first serves for winners to take the victory in just under two hours. The victory is Dolgopolov's fourth over a top-20 opponent this year, having previously defeated Robin SoderlingSam Querrey and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga

He'll take on Ferrer, who came back to defeat Juan Monaco, 2-6, 7-5, 6-2. 

The other semifinal will pit third-seeded Nicolas Almagro, who defeated Dolgopolov in the final last week at Costa do Sauipe, against Thomaz Bellucci, who defeated Lukasz Kubot, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4.
