Cam Newton: 5 Teams Who Are Interested in Drafting the Heisman Trophy Winner
With the 2011 NFL Combine about to get underway, analysts, scouts and general managers are preparing for what should be an eventful week.
After the combine, we will all set our eyes toward the next big event in the NFL, the 2011 NFL Draft.
The headline player entering the 2011 NFL Draft is Cameron Newton, the 2010 Heisman Trophy winner from Auburn.
Mock draft experts have him being selected from anywhere in the top10 all the way to the end of the first round.
Like Tim Tebow did at last year's NFL Draft, Cam Newton brings all the excitement this year.
Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills don't seem to be set on Ryan Fitzpatrick as their QB of the future, even though he did have a solid year this past season.
According to ESPN's John Clayton, Buddy Nix, the Buffalo Bills general manager, has his eyes set on Cam Newton. Clayton, however, does not think that the Bills owner Ralph Wilson will sign off on drafting Newton with the third pick.
That could all change when they sit down and watch Newton leave all the other QBs in the dust at the NFL Combine.
Tennessee Titans

The old saying "new regimes equal new quarterbacks" may hold true in this case. Even though Tennessee has a new coach, they may be the most equipped to integrate Cam Newton into their offense.
With Vince Young on his way out of town, the Titans could bring in Newton to take over where Young left off. The Titans could use a similar playbook to the one they used for Young when integrating Newton into their offense, possibly making them a match made in heaven.
The Titans may look to go the route of adding a veteran quarterback if they think their team is set up to win as is. If not, they may select Newton.
Tennessee has had some internal talks about Newton and appear to be considering pulling the trigger on the Auburn product with the eighth selection.
Washington Redskins

Cam Newton may not be the ideal quarterback for Mike Shanahan, however, if he is on the board when the Redskins go on the clock, look for Newton's name to be called.
Shanahan is very confident in his abilities to produce productive NFL quarterbacks, as he did with Jay Cutler, Jake Plummer and even John Elway.
Many people forget that before Shanahan became the coach of the Denver Broncos, Elway's passer rating only eclipsed the 85 mark twice in his 10-year career. With Shanahan at the helm, Elway exceeded an 85 passer rating in his final four seasons.
About a month ago, Matt Mosley of ESPN wrote that the Redskins may be interested in Newton. The problem for the Redskins is that they may need to trade up if they wish to acquire Newton, something that may be difficult with their lack of draft picks.
Dallas Cowboys
4 of 6
Could the Dallas Cowboys really be interested in Cam Newton? Well, Pro Football talk seems to think that the Cowboys really do have some interest in the Auburn product.
To put it nicely, this would be an awful choice for the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys have tons of other holes to fill and the quarterback position should be the last of their worries.
If the Cowboys draft Newton they will be neglecting a lot of other positions of need and would be leaving themselves with a surplus of quarterbacks. While that is a nice luxury, it doesn't make much sense for a team that is really only a couple of players away from being a contender in the NFC.
Carolina Panthers
5 of 6
The Carolina Panthers are on the clock and have the first overall selection in this year's draft. The Panthers attempted to get their quarterback of the future last season in Jimmy Clausen.
So far, Clausen has not shown much potential in his NFL career, and the Panthers have a new head coach, so they may look to go a different direction.
While Carolina was salivating over the possibility of landing Andrew Luck, that dream scenario was washed away when he returned to Stanford. Now Carolina is left choosing between Nick Fairley, Da'quan Bowers, Cam Newton, Robert Quinn and Patrick Peterson.
Carolina has a lot of needs and unfortunately there is no clear-cut number-one pick this season. Carolina would likely prefer to trade out of the top spot, but there likely won't be any takers unless someone really likes Newton or Fairley.
Newton is rumored to have piqued the interest of new Panthers coach Ron Rivera, and with a big combine, he could be playing in North Carolina next season.
Where Will Cam Newton Touch Down?
6 of 6
At this point it is anybody's guess as to where Cam Newton will land. The most likely destinations appear to be Buffalo and Washington.
However, Carolina could look to make a splash and begin a rebuilding process with Newton at the helm.
Dallas and Jerry Jones are always looking to make a splash, but that just seems like too much of a dream possibility to Newton.
In the end, the Tennessee Titans will select Newton to be the new face of the franchise. Bud Adams took the hot prospect in 2006 and will look to do the same here in 2011.
