Trade Deadline: Last Minute Trade Between Celtics and Thunder
Trade includes:
Oklahoma City Thunder
Forward: Jeff green,
Center: Nenad Krstic
OKC's 2012 First-Round Pick (Top 10 Protected)
Boston Celtics
Center: Kendrick Perkins
Point Guard: Nate Robinson
Breakdown:
A last minute potential blockbuster between two dramatically shaking up their rosters.
The Boston Celtics receive young forward Jeff Green from Oklahoma along with hard-nosed Center Nenad Krstic and a 2012 first round draft pick. Oklahoma City fills their gap at the Center spot by adding Perkins who was proven to be a key player in both of the Celtics finals runs. The Thunder also received backup PG Nate Robinson in the Deal.
Jeff Green played out of his position at small forward in Oklahoma. It appeared the team may have wanted to give more playing time to a more natural Big Man in Serge Ibaka, instead of playing small. In return OKC receives a solid big man.
The Boston Celtics have been shopping for a backup Small Forward ever since Marquise Daniels went out with a season ending injury (spinal cord). Now the Celtics have a very potent scorer and rebounder in Jeff Green, and also don't compromise height inside with the addition of Krstic.
Both Jeff Green and Kendrick Perkins will be free agents this summer, Perkins declined an extension earlier this season with the Celtics.
All in all this is a rare trade which really does benefit both teams immediately.
Season stats:
Jeff Green: 15.2 ppg, 5.6 rpg
Nenad Krstic: 7.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg
Kendrick Perkins: 7.3 ppg, 8.1 rpg
