Nittany Lions Have Help on the Road to Being Undefeated
My hopes have sprung higher for Penn State's potential to go undefeated this season, thanks to events of this week.
USC's Loss to Oregon State
Oregon State upset USC on Thursday night. This makes all Penn State fans happy; it eliminates the possibility of yet another team going undefeated.
Penn State doesn't have much of a chance to go to the national championship if they are ranked No. 3. Now that USC lost, that's one less team that we have to worry about going undefeated and robbing us of the national championship.
Our Shot at Beating Ohio State
Here's the math: We beat Oregon State 45-14. Oregon State beat USC 27-21. USC beat Ohio State 35-3.
We beat Oregon State by 31. Oregon State beat USC by six. USC beat Ohio State by 32.
So, 31+6+32=69. By the math, we should beat Ohio State by 69 points—probably not going to happen. However, this chain of events has given me more hope and confidence about beating Ohio State.
Maurice Evans and Abe Koroma Are Reinstated
All-American DE Maurice Evans and DT Abe Koroma have been practicing all week, but no one is sure if they will take the field against Illinois on Saturday. The marijuana case has not been resolved, but it is in the hands of Penn State's Office of Judicial Affairs. There's a chance the guys might play.
This is a big help to Penn State, as it will bring back depth in our defensive line. Evans and Koroma should be able to get pressure on Juice Williams and all the other teams' quarterbacks this season. They increase our chances of making it to—and winning—the national championship.
College football luck has shifted...all the luck is now going towards Penn State. Today is a happy day for Happy Valley, and I expect many more this season—and many more for future seasons.
