Floyd Mayweather Jr. Beats Nonito Donaire on Updated Pound-for-Pound List
Nonito Donaire's impressive victory over Fernando Montiel Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada was not enough to dislodge undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. from his No. 2 position on the updated Ring Magazine's pound-for-pound list.
In the newly updated top-10 list, Mayweather retained his No. 2 ranking while the "Filipino Flash" snatched third place from Sergio Martinez.
Donaire was No. 5 before his knock out victory over Fernando Montiel.
Roy Jones, who is doing quite well as boxing analyst for HBO, thinks Donaire could take second place next to pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao.
Jones mentioned Mayweather's inactive status as a possible reason for the changes in ranking.
Here's the updated list and ranking courtesy of Ring Magazine.
1. Manny Pacquaio
2. Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
3. Nonito Donaire
4. Sergio Martinez
5. Juan Manuel Marquez
6. Ponsanklek Wongjonkam
7. Vladimir Klitschko
