NFL Mock Draft 2011: Potential Selections By the Cleveland Browns In Every Round

Constantine MadiasJun 5, 2018

Looking back to 2010, Cleveland Browns President Mike Holmgren had a phenomenal draft in his first season running the team.

Now, the Browns are looking to add some offensive weapons for budding quarterback Colt McCoy, some outside pressure on the defensive line, and another starter for the defensive secondary.

Wide Receivers AJ Green of Georgia and Julio Jones of Alabama are the expected targets for Cleveland in the first round, but what about rounds two through seven?

Let's take a look at how the Browns look to mold their young but promising team in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Round One: A.J. Green (Wide Receiver, Georgia)

Green has been listed as the most talented prospect in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Listed at 6'4, 212 pounds, he's the complete package for a wide receiver.

He runs a 4.38 40-yard dash and set career highs in catches and touchdowns despite being suspended for the first four games of the 2010 College Football season.

Green is the real deal, and the Browns desperately need a wide receiver to assist Colt McCoy in his development process.

The Browns ranked near the bottom of the league in passing offense in 2010, but hopefully that changes in 2011 if they draft a wide receiver with the sixth pick.

Round Two: Allen Bailey (Defensive Tackle, Miami)

Bailey comes from a school rich with NFL talent in the Miami Hurricanes.

He had 7.0 sacks with "The U" in 2010, and apparently, NFL scouts are hyped by his potential.

Allen Bailey spent most of his time playing defensive end at Miami, but at 6'4", 288 pounds, he'll fit nicely on the inside of the Browns defensive line.

The Browns recently cut Shaun Rogers, so there might be room for Bailey to make some noise right away in Cleveland.

Round Three: Martez Wilson (Inside Linebacker, Illinois)

Wilson would be drafted more on the basis of potential rather than current skill.

He suffered from injuries and inconsistency at Illinois, but his skill set might be too solid to pass up.

As an inside linebacker listed at 6'4", 250 pounds, Wilson runs a 40-time around 4.6 seconds.

He's more of a downhill linebacker, which is exactly what the Browns need. He searches for contact, and Cleveland has not had an impact linebacker in a long time.

The Browns need to solidify the line backing core after letting go of David Bowens, D'Qwell Jackson's injuries, and Eric Barton's old age (34).

Fourth Round: Marcus Gilchrist (Cornerback, Clemson)

He would only add more depth to a Cleveland secondary that has no place to go but up.

He's not exactly solid in terms of ball skills, but he recorded 107 tackles in 2010 with Clemson.

Gilchrist could definitely improve his coverage skills, but luckily, he probably wouldn't start right away, considering both Joe Haden and Sheldon Brown are still entitled to their positions.

Gilchrist will have time to grow if drafted by Cleveland, but at the same time, he'll get some playing time considering how poorly Eric Wright has played.

Round Five: Leonard Hankerson (Wide Receiver, Miami)

Hankerson was part of a very talented wide receiving corps at Miami in 2010.

Although either A.J. Green or Julio Jones will probably be drafted in the first round by the Browns, Hankerson will be able to help the Browns as a number three option.

He has size, at 6'3 205 pounds, and had a spectacular season in 2010 despite the quarterback woes for the team.

At 72 receptions and 1,156 yards in 2010, Hankerson became the third wide receiver in Miami history to record 1,000 yards receiving. He finished with 22 TD's in his Miami career, which is also very impressive.

Round Six: Vailala Taua (Running Back, Nevada)

6 of 6

He's only listed at 5'10", but he's a very good athlete.

Taua may never be a featured back in the NFL because of his size, but he's quick, decisive, and gets through holes nicely.

The Browns also have Montario Hardesty coming back from a torn ACL, and with Peyton Hillis having a terrific 2010, Cleveland can have a solid rushing attack.

The Browns do not have a seventh round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
