NHL: Best Playoff Calls of All Time
The NHL seems to kick in to sixth gear when April comes around. Teams on the border push harder than they have all season to make the postseason.
Then the playoffs start, and there is nothing like it if you're a hockey fan. The time is filled with great highs and the all-time lows when your team is eliminated. Here are some of the best and most memorable calls in playoff history.
Matteau, Matteau, Matteau!!!
1 of 11The Rangers were down 3-2 in this series to the Devils and Mark Messier claimed, "We will win tonight." Messier put up a hat trick in Game 6 to force a Game 7. Then the rest is history as Stephen Matteau would score in double overtime to send the Rangers to the finals.
Chris Druuuuuuuuuuury
2 of 11The Sabres were facing the New York Rangers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, down 1-0 with 17 seconds left. If they lost the game, they would go down 3-2 in the series. The Sabres had one last chance to tie the game and that they did. The Sabres would go on to win the series 4-2.
Mccarty In Mccarty... Scoooooooores!
3 of 11Darren McCarty will always be loved in Hockeytown, mostly for his fighting abilities. He did light the lamp somewhat in his day as well. He dukes his way through and puts a magnificent goal in for Detroit that would prove to be the game winner and get them their first Stanley Cup in 42 years.
New Jersey Devils Have Won the Stanley Cup
4 of 11The Devils were in the Finals against the defending Cup champions Dallas Stars, when Jason Arnott netted the overtime game winner. It was Game 6 of the finals and with a sick pass from Patrick Elias, Arnott was able to get the job done for the Devils second Stanley Cup in franchise history.
Orr, Bobby Orr
5 of 11The Boston Bruins were facing the St. Louis Blues in the 1970 Stanley Cup Finals. Bobby Orr, arguably the best defenseman of all time, put on in the net for the Bruins and is considered one of the best goals of all time.
After 22 Years, Raymond Bourque
6 of 11Raymond Bourque is considered one of the best defenseman of all time. At the time he never had a Stanley Cup to go along with the resume. He then left Boston to win his first cup and that he did with the Avalanche in 2001 against the defending champs New Jersey Devils.

This One Will Last a Life Time
7 of 11The Rangers hadn't won a Stanley Cup since 1940. You had to respect the fact the fans and organization were fed up with that. Mark Messier led the Rangers to this Cup in 1994 and haven't won one since. So maybe it will have to last a lifetime for some.
Primeau Has Tied the Game
8 of 11Flyers were down in the series 3-2 and with just under two minutes left Primeau tied the game up and sent it into overtime. Simon Gagne would net the game winner to force a Game 7. Although the victory was short-lived, as they would lose to the eventual Stanley Cup champions Tampa Bay Lightning.
Scoooooooore, They Scooooooooore
9 of 11The Hurricanes were down 2-1 in this series to the Devils and a loss would be crucial. However Jokinen tips one by Marty Brodeur with .02 seconds left. The Hurricanes would also win in Game 7, scoring two goals in the last 1:30 to win the game.
May Day, May Day, May Day
10 of 11The Sabres were up 3-0 against the Bruins and needed an overtime goal to send them to the next round. Brad May put one in for Buffalo and the rest is history.
Yes the video is switched around for some reason, but you get the gist.
Steve Yzerman, Detroit Wins!!!
11 of 11Stevie Y will always been known for re-tooling the Red Wings, ever since he was drafted in 1983. He bumped his legacy up one more notch with this Game 7 overtime winner against the St. Louis Blues.
