NFL Two-A-Days: Preview Of The 2011 Off-Season The Cleveland Browns?

Ryan FryeFeb 16, 2011

The idea for this article originated from ESPN's Mike and Mike. Here is my preview for your Cleveland Browns:

5. Did Colt McCoy show enough to be the Browns QB for the immediate future?

Yes. McCoy showed a lot of heart and had a 60 percent completion percentage—the same as Sam Bradford.

He is very mobile and some may compare him to a young, Drew Brees.

He did throw 11 interceptions, but he needs better weapons around him.

4. Is Peyton Hillis the best RB in the AFC North?

Man, the AFC North has Rashard Mendenhall, Ray Rice and Cedric Benson.

Benson has really only had one good year in the NFL, so you've got to wonder if he was a one-year wonder.

Mendenhall and Rice meanwhile, are both Pro Bowl caliber running backs. Mendenhall had 1,273 yards, Rice had 1,220 yards, while Hillis had 1,177 yards.

However, you do have to consider Hillis is on a worse team, so to compare just rushing yards isn't really fair.

I don't know about the best, but he's very close to the best.

3. What will new cordinator Dick Jauron do for Cleveland's defense?

To be honest, I've never been a big Dick Jauron fan. He has been an NFL head coach twice, yet his resume as a coordinator isn't that impressive.

Regardless of my opinion, the Browns will be switching to a 4-3. This is probably a good move, considering the Browns don't have a ton of depth in the linebacking core.

They will also have to fill the gap left by Shaun Rogers, who was recently released.

2. What is the Browns' No. 1 priority in the draft and/or free agency?

Wisconsin defensive end JJ Watt and Alabama defensive tackle Marcell Dareus are names being brought up.

If he's still on the board, Dareus would be a good pick.

He could be the guy to fill the gap left by Shaun Rodgers, which has to be a major priority this offseason.

1. Stock: Rising or Falling?

It is definitely rising.

I like that Pat Shurmur will be grooming Colt McCoy, considering what he did with Sam Bradford last year. Cleveland has young emerging receivers and a terrific running back.

The defense is also improving.

I wouldn't be suprised if the Browns make the playoffs in 2011.

Ryan Frye is 15 and a volunteer scout for the Atlanta Falcons.
