NHL Trade Rumors: Vancouver Canucks Fans Mislead Over Ian White Trade
A rumor spilled over into cyberspace today when a usually reliable Dan Murphy referred to former Canuck and ex-NHL winger Brad May, reporting that the Vancouver Canucks were close to acquiring defenseman Ian White from the Carolina Hurricanes.
And, thanks to the rapid reaction on Twitter these days, many people had already re-tweeted and started to plan the parade route by spreading the word before there really was any word to spread.
TSN Hockey Insiders Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger quickly got on the phones and started to clear the air as to what was happening with the NHL's newest and biggest trade rumor.

Within minutes, McKenzie dispelled the rumor on his own Twitter account:
"I am told the Vancouver Canucks have not traded for Ian White and have not even had a single conversation about trading for Ian White."
And, after calling Canucks GM Mike Gillis, Darren Dreger reported, "Gillis says White trade rumor to Canucks is untrue."
It must be an antsy time when you see teams across the NHL making some splashes with their roster players and depth pieces ahead of the trade deadline.
However, someone certainly jumped the gun and created this whole rumor.
Let the air clear, folks. Sit back and make sure that trades are confirmed by the real source (i.e. Mike Gillis, Lawrence Gilman or Lorne Henning, as well as the aforementioned TSN experts) before getting all pumped up about what may never come to fruition.
Enjoy your afternoon, Canucks fans.
