NBA Trade Rumors: 5 Destinations for Philadelphia 76ers' Andre Iguodala

Donald WoodFeb 16, 2011

As the NBA trade deadline approaches, the Philadelphia 76ers need to address whether or not their future involves shooting guard Andre Iguodala.

The Sixers have been playing well, but Iguodala still has been coming up short at big times and the franchise needs to think about making a move to benefit the team.

If the Sixers think he is the man of the future than they are sadly mistaken. Iguodala would be a good compliment to a star player but he was never built to shoulder a team on his own.

The following list is of 5 trade possibilities involving Andre Iguodala. Enjoy!

5. Carmelo Anthony

The move of Carmelo Anthony out of Denver seems more inevitable every day.

Anthony’s play has been on the decline recently, and one can’t help but think all of the questions and rumors surrounding a player’s future wears on them mentally.

Wherever Carmelo goes, odds are that a third team would be needed to fill in the pieces and the Sixers would be wise to get involved.

If they send away Iguodala in the deal, you could be looking at 1st round picks and maybe another piece or two for the future.

4. Ben Gordon and Richard Hamilton

This move may sound odd and unreasonable but hear me out.

A Detroit Pistons team in an obvious rebuilding mode would be willing to deal away both Ben Gordon and Richard Hamilton- and a player like Andre Iguodala may be right up their alley.

Both Hamilton and Gordon average over 13 points per game and the two could be featured more in Doug Collins' offense.

The Pistons would have a face for their franchise and the Sixers would add depth and two players who could fit right into their scheme.

3. Ron Artest

The Sixers would be smart to try move Andre Iguodala for Ron Artest for several reasons.

Ron Artest brings a strong defense, and a coach like Doug Collins might be a good facilitator for Artest’s attitude.

While Iguodala is a much better scorer than Artest , Ron can shoot pretty well when he needs to.  On the Sixers, he would have his assets shown more than hidden like they are in Los Angeles.

Artest’s stats are down this season but his career could use a shakeup, and a move to Philadelphia would give the Sixers a big name to get people in the seats.

2. J.J. Hickson and Antwan Jamison

This move would have to include some other pieces, but Iggy to the Cavaliers for J.J. Hickson and Jamison would be a solid move.

It would thin the Sixers out at the guard position, but they could always pick up more guard help in the draft or through free agency.

Hickson and Jamison are 6’9” forwards who can play at the three or four position.

The Sixers would have to package a forward in the trade, but they could also get another piece from the Cavaliers like Mo Williams or someone else.

1. Gerald Wallace

I think the best move for the team would be a trade sending Andre Iguodala to Charlotte for forward Gerald Wallace.

Wallace is a versatile player who can play the two, three or four positions and can be a big time offensive threat when given the opportunity.

For the Sixers, Wallace brings a scoring touch with over 15 points a game as a second option behind Stephen Jackson and a rebounding ability that couldn’t hurt on a smaller Sixers team.
