UFC 127: Jon Fitch Video Blog Details Daily Nutrition Leading into BJ Penn Fight

Joshua CareyFeb 16, 2011

The Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia will be the next stop for the Ultimate Fighting Championship and top five welterweight Jon Fitch headlines the pay-per-view event.

Fitch (23-3-0, 1NC) faces former welterweight and lightweight champion BJ Penn (16-7-1), in the main event to determine the number one contender in the division.

During yesterday's UFC 127 media conference call, UFC President Dana White, announced that the winner between Fitch and Penn will be next in line for a shot at whomever is victorious between Georges St. Pierre (Champion) and Jake Shields who fight at the historic UFC 129 in April.

Both, Penn and Fitch appear to be in great physical and mental shape heading into the fight. Penn spent time in Las Vegas strengthening his striking under Floyd Mayweather Sr. and brought in Matt Hughes for assistance with the wrestling aspect of his game.

For Fitch, he trains out of the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, California with numerous current UFC and Strikeforce fighters. His focus on this fight will undoubtedly be to avoid Penn's elite submission game and powerful strikes.

On paper it would appear that Fitch will have a huge size advantage come fight night as Penn walks around close to 169 pounds. The AKA trained welterweight will most likely shed 10-15 pounds prior to the fight to successfully make weight. With Fitch's impressive diet that should be no problem.

Provided is a video  that Fitch uploaded on January 20. It details what his nutrition is from his immediate intake of two 16 ounce glasses of water first thing in the morning, oatmeal for breakfast, dinner that consists of vegan chili, and a late night snack with a choice of organic fruit.

It provides nice insight to what a world class fighter eats throughout the day as he prepares for one of the most high profiled fights of his professional career. View the video above and check out the televised main card for UFC 129 below.
