Cornfeed around the web…

  • A big week for Huskers in the NFL:
"

Barrett Ruud was named Defensive Player of the Week by Peter King of Sports Illustrated. King later gave praise to another young Husker linebacker, Stewart Bradley. King said Bradley is arguably the top run-stuffer in the league.

  • Tim Griffin calls Carl Pelini “refreshing” in the “I’m a man, I’m forty” world of college football coaches.
"

Jim Ebke and Cody Spano to try and portray the elusiveness and burst the Huskers haven’t seen from another quarterback this season. Pelini said NU got just a taste of it from Kyle Reed in the San Jose State game, but not the full picture it will see with Taylor.

“He’s as athletic a guy as I’ve seen in a long time,” Pelini said. “We played him at LSU and he got in there toward the end of the game . . . and he’s an athlete. He can do some things with his feet that most guys can’t do.”

He’s good,” NU linebacker Tyler Wortman said. “He’s kind of a dual-threat guy. He’s going to be able to run the ball and he can throw, too. We’re going to have to be able to contain him.”

That was one point Pelini made Monday. It isn’t just defending the designed run plays such as a zone read keeper. It’s also managing Taylor with a pass rush that can’t over-pursue or leave alleys allowing him to go north-south.

"
  • Virginia paper looks at the game. Interesting note: The Huskers game is the farthest the Hokies have traveled west since 1991 game against Oklahoma.
"

Figuring the noise level could be at ultra-high decibels Saturday, Beamer said he will likely take his offense inside Rector Field House on Thursday. Some giant speakers will be rolled into the field house to simulate crowd noise.

  • Cody Glenn tells the truth:
"

“We’re not fooling nobody,” Glenn said. “We knew those first three games were games we were supposed to win. That’s why we put em on the schedule.”

“Now we’ve got Virginia Tech coming in,” Glenn continued. “You know, this is what we’ve been waiting on. This is when we’re gonna see what kind of team we got. We’re definitely ready.”

…NU spent time practicing how to contain the sophomore (Tyrod Taylor) in the pocket, and make sure he doesn’t burn the Huskers on zone read plays.
