A note from Huskers Gameday…

Jeff WilliamsSep 23, 2008

I received this email from Bob Sklenar, who is the President of Pennsylvanians for Nebraska I wanted to pass it along:

"

Fellow Nebraskans,

You are receiving this note tonight to ask for your help.

As you know Hukser Dan and the Nebraska Cornhusker fans are hosting a weekend to salute the service men and women who are Husker fans.  The weekend will be during the OU game November 1st.  The weekend promises to be a once in a lifetime event for many of these Husker fans.  They will be treated to a tour of the stadium, a walk on the field, a watch party at the Cornhusker hotel, a nights stay of the Cornhusker and a brunch in their honor on Sunday morning.  All for this will be free to them.  The event has been regularly featured on the Huskerpedia website and in Husker Dan’s articles.

This event has three major sponsors for the weekend.  FuturesOne and David Fiala, Anderson Auto Group and Kincade Coach Lines have provided well over 70% of the funding for this event and we are extremely greatfull for there generosity.  We are still in need of a sponsor for the watch party.  The estimated cost is $2500.  If each of the alumni chapters sponsors a soldiers weekend we will meet the goal and ensure we provide each and every one of these service men and women a great weekend in Lincoln and they will know it is all because of the great men and women who are part of the Nebraska Tradition.  This weekend is a thank you to the Husker fans who serve  from the Husker fans who enjoy the freedoms these men and women provide us. They choose to be away from their families, they choose to be put in harms way while we are able to sit and watch our favorite team play on Saturdays.  We can never thank them enough.  It is our goal to provide them this weekend to ensure they know they are appreciated.  Please, go to the website huskersalute.org and donate or mail your donation to the address below.

If you know any service men or women who are, or have served in any branch of the US Military please pass the below press release onto them so they can sign up.  There is a registration cut off date of October 10th.

Thank you for supporting this great cause with your donation. Please forward this message to all your members and ask them to donate as well.  Every dollar raised goes toward the troops.
