The AFC's Elite: Broncos, Ravens, Titans, Bills??
If one were to be making NFL predictions prior to opening day, an unbiased writerwould find these four unbeatens in the middle or bottom of their predicted division finishes. Something like this:
AFC West AFC South AFC North AFC East
1. San Diego 1. Indianapolis 1. Pittsburgh 1. New England

4. Kansas City 4. Houston 4. Baltimore 4. Miami
I'll be the first to admit, I had the Titans and Ravens all wrong, but I had a feeling about the Broncos and Bills. After two weeks in the season, the NFL has proven once again why they play the games.
The "inexperienced" Broncos have the best offense in the NFL, scoring 38 points per game. The "inconsistent" Titans have created more turnovers and played better defense than just about anyone in the NFL-- Except for the undefeated Ravens, who were "not getting any younger" and who have "quarterback issues". The Ravens, led by Rookie QB Joe Flacco and their always potent defense have defied the odds and are playing their best football in three years. Last but not least, those unheralded Buffalo Bills. The Bills have emerged as contenders in the AFC with a great mix of defense and excellent special teams play. Trent Edwards has managed the game, and the Bills are 3-0.
Throw away all of your pre-season predictions, sit back, relax, and watch some football. There is no way anyone could have predicted this, unless you are a homer (myself included).
How's this for a prediction-- Broncos vs. Bills for the AFC Crown come January? How about Titans/Ravens for AFC supremacy? Before you deny it, ask yourself: Why not?
