WWE Road To Wrestlemania: Feuds That Could Excite You (Or Make You Cry) Part I
The Purpose of the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view is to shake up the WWE scene leading up to the Granddaddy of them all, Wrestlemania.
The number of people that the elimination chamber allows to compete gives way to a vast array of Wrestlemania championship match possibilities.
For this article, I will use the elimination chamber participants as the contenders for the title at Wrestlemania. I'll lay out potential Raw matches in this article, and dive into the some Smackdown possibilities in Part II.
The Miz (C) Vs John Cena
1 of 12
I kind of wish that the Miz would go back to this hat. Anyway, this is the match that many people feel will be headlining Wrestlemania. These two have somewhat of a history together, as the Miz used John Cena to propel himself away from the mid-card scene.
Cena is the man that WWE's creative team likes to throw at the win-dirty heels, so this feud makes sense even without mentioning that (A) The Miz eliminated Cena from the Royal Rumble, or (B) John Cena hasn't held a singles title since June. June!!!!
This match is pretty likely to happen, I think, and I look forward to the promos leading up to it.
The Miz (C) Vs Randy Orton
2 of 12
These two have a history as well, as The Miz defeated Randy Orton to win the title and has since defeated him in championship rematches as well.
However, it isn't likely to happen since the two have already faced each other this year. Also, Orton is currently embroiled in a feud with CM Punk.
This one is very unlikely to happen, and since we've already seen it, I wouldn't look forward to this one.
The Miz (C) Vs Sheamus
3 of 12
This match would be heel vs heel, so considering that these two have almost no history, I think we can safely rule this one out. If casual fans don't have anyone to root for, they normally tune out.
My girlfriend Heather put it like this: "These two fighting? Each other? Uh-uh. I would be hoping some other dude ran in and beat em both up."
If there's no one to cheer for, it won't happen. But hey, if one of them suddenly becomes a face in the next month, I'd love to see it.
Plus, the Miz's promos leading up to Wrestlemania would be great; Who wouldn't love hearing him make fun of Sheamus while talking in a fake Irish accent?
Regardless of if this match ever happens, that promo should definitely happen.
The Miz (C) Vs CM Punk
4 of 12
This is another match that, while it would have obvious troubles happening, would be a great rivalry and should definitely happen in the future.
The Miz and CM Punk are two of the best talkers that the WWE currently has to offer, making the events leading up to 'Mania qualify as Must-See-TV for the I-W-C.
(See what I did there? Yeeeeeah... Poetry, yo.)
This one isn't going to happen either, due to both of them being heels and Punk's aforementioned rivalry with Randy Orton. But, in a perfect world.... oh well.
(Heather's take on this match: "Well, I would watch it I guess, if only to watch those Nexus dudes beat up on Alex Riley. Would Cena run in and beat 'em all up?)
Probably.
The Miz (C) Vs R-Truth
5 of 12
This one, folks, is the one that we all obviously want to see. I mean, anytime that you have a guy like R-Truth on your roster, he's got to be main-eventing Wrestlemania.
Really guys, has there ever been a guy that connected with the WWE Universe the way that Truth does? I mean, have you heard the way he interacts with the fans? It's wicked cool.
Ok first, he goes, "What's Up?" Alright, and then the fans, they TOTALLY repeat him and yell "WHATS UP?" after him! Isn't that amazing?? This match HAS to happen! Truth is the coolest dude ever!
Please let this match headline Wrestlemania!
(Note: If you thought that I meant ONE WORD of this slide to be taken seriously, please withdraw from the IWC, deactivate your BR account, get off of the Internet, move out of your house, change your name, and never EVER talk to anyone about wrestling again. K? Ok.
The Miz (C) Vs John Morrison
6 of 12
Before I mark out over this match, let me try to appeal to Jo-Mo really quickly because I feel like there is a .003% chance he will read this article.
Johnny boy, you have two choices;
1. Shave the beard.
or
2. TURN HEEL ALREADY! BEARDS ARE A FREAKING HEEL THING ANYWAY! (calming down) You look ridiculous. Please, John, make a decision. Do it for me, Johnny. Do it for me.
Sorry for that. Anyway, I believe that this would be an awesome Wrestlemania feud, mainly because of the story and chemistry between the two that results from their years as a tag team. Simply put, I believe that these two could put on a great match.
However, this one probably isn't going to happen either. WWE gave Morrison a title shot back in January, but it wasn't even on pay-per-view, so would they really trust him to headline 'Mania? Not likely.
If the Miz is still champion after the chamber, I would like Morrison to be his opponent, but sadly, I dont think that the odds are in Morrison's favor. Maybe next year.
Jerry Lawler (C) Vs Randy Orton
7 of 12
This is where this slide show gets silly. There is no chance in hell that these two will face each other at Wrestlemania, but if the WWE is to be believed, Lawler has a chance to become the WWE champion at the Elimination Chamber.
And since we're already traveling down this road, the winner of the actual elimination chamber match becomes the No. 1 contender for the title, meaning that matches like Lawler-Orton could take place.
So even though they have no chance of happening, let's take a look at some of the hypothetical matches, just for funsies.
Well for starters, this match would probably be a complete dumpster fire. Combining Lawler's old age with Orton's well-known lack of patience and anger issues, I can easily see this match breaking down very quickly.
Hell, Orton might get legitimately angry at Lawler during the match and knock him unconscious, leading to the first-ever championship match at Wrestlemania won by a knockout. At least it would be entertaining!
Please, don't let this match happen.
Jerry Lawler (C) Vs CM Punk
8 of 12
One could suppose that this match might happen, since the King helped John Cena fend off New Nexus to close out Raw last Monday. Another plus is that Lawler is a face and Punk is a heel, so... they've got that going for them.
Other than that, this is out, too. Punk is feuding with Orton, and Lawler is... um... old? Slow? Not in Punk's league? I can't see any conceivable way that this match happens.
Please, don't let CM Punk be reduced to this.
Jerry Lawler (C) Vs John Morrison
9 of 12
I couldn't find a photo of Jerry Lawler and John Morrison together, so I picked this one because it reminded me of their age difference.
Of all of the people competing in the elimination chamber match, Morrison is the one that I would pick to go against Lawler, just because maybe Morrison's style could hide Lawler's weaknesses better than others could.
I don't mean to make it seem like Lawler is a horrible wrestler; he's actually not, even if I've made him sound that way so far. However, like anybody else, he has weaknesses, and I feel that maybe with Jo-Mo flying around all the time, nobody would notice and they could have a solid match.
In the end, however, I would rather see Morrison utilized in another way on the card, so I don't really want this one to happen, either.
Please, let John Morrison flash-kick me in the face before this match happens at Wrestlemania.
Jerry Lawler (C) Vs Sheamus

Let's say that as Triple H is getting ready to make his long-awaited comeback, as he's walking backstage, he can't find a bottle of water to take with him when he makes his entrance.
Frustrated, he feverishly searches the backstage area for that wonderful H2O goodness, cant find any, and collapses of dehydration mere minutes before he's set to return to confront Sheamus.
If we accept that as a possibility, then we must accept that that Lawler vs Sheamus for the Dubya Dubya E Title is also a possibility. They even have somewhat of a rivalry going!
When Sheamus first burst onto the scene, one of the ways that he established his toughness was to beat up Ol' King. Also, just two Mondays ago, Lawler won the Raw Rumble (and number one contendership for the WWE Title) by lastly eliminating Sheamus. WWE could conceivably spin these events into a feud between the two.
Please, let me be as pale as Sheamus before this match happens at Wrestlemania.
