ESPN Friday Night Fights: Live Updates and Round-by-Round Coverage

Live results will be posted for this week's edition of ESPN Friday Night Fights beginning at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The main event features Antonin Decarie (24-1, seven knockouts) and Shamone Alvarez (21-3, 12 knockouts) in a 10-round welterweight bout.

Before the main event, Steve Forbes (35-8) will be challenging Jo Jo Dan (27-1), also scheduled for 10 rounds in the welterweight division.

Round 1—Both fighters are looking to establish the jab early. Forbes is staying on the outside and trying to make his way into the pocket of the taller opponent.

Close first round, but Dan landed more shots to the body and a left hand near the end the round. 10-9 Dan

Round 2—Dan is trying to land body shots, and Forbes is looking to land a counter right hand. Nothing significant landed so far, but Dan is showing good defense and landing some shots.

Very close round. Even 10-10

Round 3—Forbes is stalking, but Dan isn’t having any of it and clinches. Dan lands a few punches while Forbes goes near the ropes. Dan has very nice body shots and is landing them in this round. Both boxers are opening up in the last minute, and Forbes lands a good left hand as they exchange.

Forbes throws a flurry to close out the round. 10-9 Forbes

Round 4—Dan lands a right hand counter, and Forbes returns the favor. Lots of inside fighting and clinching. Forbes land a perfect body shot. Power shots through first three rounds: Dan landing 32 of 72 and Forbes landing 29 of 89.

Dan finishes the round strong with some more body shots, which really seems the key to him winning this fight. 10-9 Dan

Round 5—Forbes throws two sweeping right hands but misses. Dan is using the jab exclusively in this round. He begins to open up halfway through the round.

Forbes lands two right hands and follows up with two body shots. 10-9 Dan

Round 6—Jean Pascal joins ringside to discuss his fight with Hopkins. Clash of heads early in the round causes a big cut over Forbes’ left eye. Ringside doctor calls the fight and a technical decision will be announced.

Nothing much happened in the round, so it should be scored 10-10.

TOTAL: 59-57 Jo Jo Dan

Judges score it 58-56 and 58-56 for Jo Jo Dan.

Main Event: Antonin Decarie vs. Shamone Alvarez

Round 1—Alvarez comes out quick and Decarie finally gets one shot off 30 seconds in. Alvarez is missing wide on a lot of his shots. Decarie starts to unload on Alvarez.

Alvarez lands last shot of the round. 10-9 Decarie

Round 2—Decarie lands a few head and body shots, and Alvarez backs up. Decarie is doing some good body work, and he knocks Alvarez off balance. He delivers a right hand down the middle and hits Alvarez’ body.

This is a good, competitive fight so far. 10-9 Decarie

Round 3—Crowd chants Decarie’s name as the third round begins. Decarie is still controlling the fight and landing the jab. Alvarez is beginning to pressure Decarie. Punch stats so far: Decarie 36/106, Alvarez 32/203. Decarie lands two left hooks that hurt Alvarez.

Both fighters trade in the final stages of the round. 10-9 Decarie

Round 4—Punch stats show Alvarez throwing twice as many punches, but he is missing on almost all of them. Decarie lands a right hand to the body that stuns Alvarez for a second.  Decarie is being very selective with his punches but lands them. Referee warns Decarie to keep his punches up.

Decarie lands a flurry of punches near the end of the round and Alvarez looks wobbly. 10-9 Decarie

Round 5—Replay shows Alvarez being stunned by a clash of heads and not just the punches. Power shots through four rounds: Decarie 58/107, Alvarez 37/125. Alvarez gets caught with a straight right hand and falls straight to the ropes.He makes it up for the count and looks off balance.

Decarie lands a left hand to the body and follows up with two more body shots. He lands another right hand followed by a left hook to the body.

Big round for Decarie. 10-8 Decarie

Round 6—Alvarez remains busy, but nothing is landing for him. Decarie lands two right hands followed by a left-right combination.

Decarie is having another great round, and Alvarez looked hurt several times. 10-9 Decarie

Round 7—Alvarez is having his best round of the fight, but it’s because Decarie isn’t doing much now. Decarie lands two more body shots. Decarie throws four power punches in succession, and all of them land.

He opens up more in the final 10 seconds and wins another round. 10-9 Decarie

Round 8—Alvarez has another good first minute of the round, even if he isn’t landing much. Decarie opens up halfway through as he’s been doing. Decarie lands two right hands, one to the body and one to the head. He lands another right hand and Alvarez is on weak legs. Alvarez’ left eye is cut, and he goes down by a right hand.

Another knockdown is ruled. 10-8 Decarie

Round 9—Decarie lands a left hook halfway through the round. Alvarez comes back with a combination. Alvarez is looking for a big punch. He needs it.

Close round, but Alvarez stayed busy longer. 10-9 Alvarez

Round 10- Alvarez should be looking for the knockout. Decarie seems to know he has the fight in the big, and he is fighting that way. Decarie lands a right hand counter and takes a few shots from Alvarez in return. Power shots through nine rounds: Decarie 159/283, Alvarez 89/289.

Both fighters close the fight with solid action. 10-9 Alvarez

TOTAL: 98-90 Decarie

Judges score it 97-91, 99-89 and 98-90 for the winner by unanimous decision, Antonin Decarie.
