2011 NFL Draft: Jake Locker and the 10 Biggest Workout Warriors
The NFL combine can erase any success or failures a player had during their college career. Underachieve during the season, but run a 4.2 forty meter dash and your name climbs up the ladder. Have a stellar college career but prove to be weaker than your competition in strength tests and none of your college accomplishments matter.
Ten players to watch in this year's combine.
Nick Fairley
1 of 10
We remember his national championship performance, but will Fairley still be in top physical condition to warrant a number one pick? The strength will not leave but scouts will be interested to see where his conditioning is at.
Da'Quan Bowers
2 of 10
The combine is Bowers chance to show everyone he may be the new version of Julius Peppers.
He also may be the number one pick if he wows the scouts.
A.J. Green
3 of 10
A.J. Green will shine in the forty and his vertical leap. This is his time to remind people why he might be the best wide receiver since Randy Moss.
Robert Quinn
4 of 10
Lot of defensive ends are ranked high in mock drafts all over the internet. Game tape does not matter anymore, Quinn can make himself stand out at the combine.
Blaine Gabbert
5 of 10
With Andrew Luck out, Gabbert could be the first quarterback selected in the NFL draft. Not if he doesn't thrive at the combine.
Jake Locker will set the bar high on physical tests and Gabbert must prove to be at the same level. He needs teams to see him as a franchise guy not as another Chase Daniel backup guy.
Jake Locker
6 of 10
Locker seems to have better off-seasons than regular seasons.
Nothing will make scouts forget about the Senior Bowl faster than a few off the charts workouts.
Nate Solder
7 of 10
Solder was 315 lbs at the Senior Bowl. What will he weigh in at the combine? Will he have gained the right type of weight.
Pat Devlin
8 of 10
Who? He played where?
Gettyimages did not even have a photo of Devlin on file.
Pat Devlin played quarterback for Delaware and had a very successful season while showing tremendous upside. Delaware alumni Joe Flacco has made it work, why not Devlin?
He will have to have a strong performance to pass names like Gabbert, Locker, and Newton.
Owen Marecic
9 of 10
We all know Owen Marecic is tough. He played on both sides of the ball which is unheard of in today's game. The combine is his time to show he can be an NFL fullback. Maybe even a linebacker too. There's at least one coach out there who knows his worth (Jim Harbaugh), the combine is Owen's time to stand out.
Niles Paul
10 of 10
Niles Paul could be the steal of this draft going off the board somewhere in the fourth or fifth round. For Paul he needs to show the scouts early of his talents to gain a larger contract.
