Guti vs Angry Heavyweight Boxer
Just when you thought Guti can’t surprise you anymore, the tabloid’s darling comes back with an even more bizarre story that perhaps tops all the gems the Spaniard has given us in the past.
It was a beautiful afternoon and Guti was driving his car toward the training ground in Valdebebas where the team was meeting before heading to the airport; but things didn’t quite go as planned for the poor midfielder.
According to the press, Guti was having heated discussion with a man outside the training ground before he tried to escape by speeding toward the gate in his Porsche.
The Midfielder thought he would be safe after entering the training ground but his follower somehow managed to follow him through the gate.
One of the guards, heroically if I may add, got into a vehicle and purposely crashed into the stalker’s car allowing Guti to escape.
Two more men were needed to tame the mad chap after he successfully managed to knock down and injure the first guard who needed to be briefly hospitalized after that unfortunate encounter.
Now this is not where the wackiness ends. The stalker is not just any regular nutcase or a smitten misguided fan, but a 29 year-old heavyweight boxer called Jorge Muñoz; a man who surprisingly claims that his passions in life are boxing and oil painting.
Apparently, the Spanish boxing federation has refused to grant this angry man a boxing license because he is 37% deaf, a decision that two years ago made Guti wear a shirt with Muñoz’s picture and the phrase “A boxer in silence. Too many obstacles.”
But sometime between 2006 and this summer, the relationship between the two turned sour and Muñoz started sending written threats to Guti before deciding to confront him in person on Saturday.
Though no one really knows the entire story, Real Madrid aren’t taking any chances when it comes to their player’s safety and has hired two guards to protect him and his family in case Muñoz violated his restriction order.
Still, Guti must be one of the unluckiest, or smartest, men to roam the land as just the next day, he clumsily got himself injured without anyone’s assistance in the match against Racing Santander.
He is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks and will train safely inside gym and away from his lovely stalker's fists.
