Michael Vick Has Confrontation With Dog Owner: Has He Learned His Lesson?

Colin KirschnerFeb 8, 2011

This past Saturday, Philadelphia Eagles QB,  Michael Vick won the AP Comeback Player of the Year award.

He also was awarded the key to the city of Dallas by Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway.

This action is what caused a bit of an uproar among local animal rights groups and the actual mayor of the city, Tom Leppert.

The fact that Vick was awarded the key to the city by a "vice mayor," is a little strange, but that is not the incident being addressed here.

Vick was speaking at Super Teen Saturday,  vocalizing to a group of children about troubles he got into when convicted of running a dog-fighting ring and was sentenced to 19 months in federal prison.

On his way out the door escorted by his security entourage, he was confronted face to face by a man who adopted one of the dogs from his dog-fighting kennels.

You can see in the video that Vick was being rushed out of the door by his security, not giving him much time to respond at all.

Richard Hunter, a local radio reporter in Dallas, is the name of the man of who confronted Vick and who adopted one of his dogs.

Hunter was quoted in a Yahoo article, "Vick turned and looked at the picture…then looked me right in the eye… and walked away."

When you watch the video, it is clearly trying to still mark Vick with an "X," as a bad person.

There is words said in the video, yet you don't see who is speaking, leaving me to ask is this Mr. Hunter completely telling the truth?

It's understandable that someone who adopted one of the dog's abused under Vick would want to ask him some questions and expect answers.

But, at the same time, this could still be a sensitive topic for him to talk about and just because you adopted one of his dogs does not mean you get a personal interview with Michael Vick.

In time, Vick will most likely address the issue at hand and the dog fighting incident in general.

It's only human to realize and understand the whole dog fighting issue and abuse from the media was a traumatizing event in his life.

Even though he was the one to lead to his own demise for that period in his life, he has shown that he wants to change.

Give him time and he will talk—it's only human to respect that.
