Mike Munchak Promises Change As Tennessee Titans Head Coach
It didn’t take long for the Titans to choose their second head coach since moving to Nashville in 1997. In the end, they chose to promote from within, going with Mike Munchak. Munchak exhibits a great football mind and receives respect from both players and coaches, an important factor when hiring a new coach.
Up until this past season, the Titans have had a great offensive line under the direction of Munchak. He coached great players such as Kevin Mawae, Bruce Matthews and Brad Hopkins.
Munchak said a lot of promising things, that tell me he's ready for the challenge. “I’m going to be my own man," he said, "and I’ll be judged by what I do and not what was done before me."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
It’s probably nerve-wracking to some Titans fans that Munchak has zero head coaching experience, but everyone has to start somewhere. Mike Tomlin also had zero head coaching experience when the Steelers decided to hire him, and now he’s taken them to two Super Bowls in three seasons.
Munchak is known as a no-nonsense kind of guy, and that is something the Titans desperately need. This team has become known as one of the dirtiest teams in the NFL over the past few seasons and could use a leader to instill a sense of discipline and poise.
Munchak’s first big move occurred when he announced that Mike Heimerdinger is out as the offensive coordinator, just weeks after being considered as Jeff Fisher’s replacement.
There’s still a lot of openings that need to be filled on the Titans' coaching staff along with Heimerdinger’s new vacancy, including Munchak’s old job of coaching the offensive line. It’s been rumored that Bruce Matthews could end up being Munchak’s replacement. Now tell me that name doesn’t make you a little excited.
The defensive coordinator job previously held by Chuck Cecil also remains vacant.
Munchak looks to be cleaning house and starting fresh. Change is obviously necessary for an organization that fell into a rut of average football.
Hopefully Munchak will start a head coaching legacy of his own that will put the Titans back into the AFC Championship conversation.
