ACC Improves Conference Strength, Pac-10 Continues Downslide
Scott GlesnerSep 21, 2008
Through this past weekend of games, the ACC tried to fix its reputation with NC State's upset win over ECU, Miami's domination of Texas A&M, and Georgia Tech destroying Mississippi State.
The Pac-10 is now being known as USC and who else. It wasn't a surprise that Arizona State lost to Georgia, but the team that had a chance to upend USC, Oregon, lost at home to WAC opponent Boise State.
The SEC continues to lead and put a little room between itself and the Big 12.
The conference strengths as of Sept. 20 are as follows.
| Rank | Conference | OOC Record | Rating |
| 1 | SEC | 25-4 | 0.6685 |
| 2 | Big 12 | 33-8 | 0.6446 |
| 3 | Big Ten | 31-8 | 0.6274 |
| 4 | MWC | 18-6 | 0.6131 |
| 5 | ACC | 23-8 | 0.6021 |
| 6 | Pac-10 | 11-12 | 0.5489 |
| 7 | Big East | 16-11 | 0.5480 |
| 8 | WAC | 13-14 | 0.4909 |
| 9 | Conference USA | 13-19 | 0.4608 |
| 10 | MAC | 15-24 | 0.4517 |
| 11 | Independents | 6-8 | 0.4481 |
| 12 | Sun Belt | 7-17 | 0.4174 |
