Green Bay Packers: 10 Players Who Won't Be Back with the Pack Next Season
For the 2010-11 Green Bay Packers, hoisting up the Lombardi trophy was a dream come true. From the confetti, to the rings, the parades, the respect and the adoration, to the players and the front office, it might all seem a little too surreal for the Packers to comprehend.
But now the reality sets in that while this team was special, not everyone gets to stay. The Packers will have to make offseason moves. Whether it be that guys retire, guys sign elsewhere or the Packers ship guys out the team that won in Dallas, they won't be quite the same next season.
Here's a look at the 10 Packers who could remember the Super Bowl as their last game in the Green and Yellow.
10. Korey Hall, FB

What He's Facing
Free Agency
Why He'll Be Gone
To say Hall was buried on the depth chart would be an understatement. Hall was behind John Kuhn, who not only shouldered the load of the fullback position, but also became a fan favorite in Green Bay. Both of these guys are up for contract. Since Hall is barely relevant at this point, it's likely that Hall doesn't return for another season.
What They'll Lose
Hall provided depth in the backfield in a season that needed it, but still wasn't used. He won't be missed at all.
9. Brandon Jackson, RB

What He's Facing
Free Agency
Why He'll Be Gone
If you needed a sign that Jackson's days with the Packers are numbered, look no further than the Super Bowl. He had one catch for 14 yards and watched James Starks get the bulk of the carries. Jackson didn't do anything to help the Packers run game and they won't be lost on the Packers when he hits free agency.
What They'll Lose
Nothing. Jackson isn't a bad back, but the emergence of James Starks made Jackson completely dispensable.
8. Atari Bigby, S
3 of 10
What He's Facing
Free Agency
Why He'll Be Gone
Bigby is a good player, but he is also very injury prone. The Packers got along fine without him, especially with the emergence of Charlie Peprah. Peprah is a free agent as well as if the Packers are forced to make a decision they are likely to side with the more durable Peprah.
What They'll Lose
Bigby had a lot of big play potential but he also had a lot of injuries. If he stays healthy, he'll make another team happy, but that team shouldn't be Green Bay.
7. Cullen Jenkins, DE
4 of 10
What He Facing
Free Agency
Why He'll Be Gone
The Packers had seven guys listed as defensive ends on their roster, and Jenkins is the oldest next to Ryan Pickett. The Packers know that with a talented coach like Dom Capers, they can afford to gamble on losing a guy like Jenkins in favor of picking up someone in the draft.
What They Lose
He's a savvy veteran, but the Packers will get along just fine without him.
6. Daryn Colledge, G
5 of 10
What He's Facing
Free Agency
Why He'll Be Gone
Colledge has had himself a very up-and-down year. While the Packers were hurt in the running game by losing Ryan Grant, the weaker and inconsistent play from guys like Colledge on the offensive line didn't help matters. He's cheap right now, but the Packers could do better.
What They'll Lose
Not much. They will likely look to free agency themselves and target a guy like Davin Joseph or Harvey Dahl if they can steal them away.
5. Jarrett Bush, CB
6 of 10
What He's Facing
Free Agency
Why He'll Be Gone
The Packers used to value Bush as a key member of their secondary, and while he's still a good player he's not likely to be in their plans. The emergence of Tramon Williams and Sam Shields relegated him to the backup role. He's making $2 million a year so he's likely to be let go so they can search for a cheaper option.
What They'll Lose
Bush is good and should make another team very happy he's on the market. The Packers would keep him if he would come cheaper.
4. James Jones, WR
7 of 10
What He's Facing
Free Agency
Why He'll Be Gone
James Jones is committed to being a No. 1 receiver in the league and that translates to him wanting to get paid like one. While it's unlikely he's going to see the kind of money that true No. 1s see, he's still going to ask for more than the Packers will be willing to give him.
What They'll Lose
Depends. If it's just Jones they lose, then they can recover. Remember, this is a team that worked for most of the year without Aaron Rodgers' favorite target Jermichael Finley. He'll be back next season and the Packers shouldn't miss a beat.
3. Mason Crosby, K
8 of 10
What He's Facing
Free Agency
Why He'll Be Gone
Mason Crosby ended up helping the Packers win a Super Bowl, but he wasn't great on his quest to get there. According to CBSSports.com, Crosby was 21st in kicking percentage. That's not exactly the kind of ranking that will get you a raise or convince a team to bring you back either.
What They'll Lose
A lot if they don't pick up Matt Prater, Ryan Longwell or Adam Vinatieri. If it's between Crosby and an unknown, then they'll be taking a gamble.
2. Donald Driver, WR
9 of 10
What He's Facing
Retirement
Why He'll Be Gone
Spending the second half in a boot on the sideline isn't the way Donald Driver wanted to win his first Super Bowl, but the end result is the same. Driver has been in the league 12 years and is 36. It's likely that he won't have the storybook season again last year. While Driver may have some left in the tank, it would be worth it for him to go out on a high note.
What They'll Lose
Driver is a respected veteran, a proven leader and one of the smarter guys on offense. He'll be sorely missed when he hangs them up.
1. Ryan Grant, RB
10 of 10
What He's Facing
A Trade or Release
Why He'll Be Gone
Grant gave the Packers a running game when they had none, but the Packers have proven two things over the past few years: They can find a running game without having to get a top-level back, and they have also proven that James Starks can step in and do a good job. Grant makes $4 million a year, and they could save that money and spend it on other areas of need.
What They'll Lose
Grant has been a huge addition to the team since he got there during the 2007 season, but the Packers could end up getting a couple of draft picks for him, and even if they are in the later rounds, the Packers have shown that they can find good talent there.
