Super Bowl 2011: Christina Aguilera And The 10 Most Disappointing Performances
Super Bowl 2011 was a huge spectacle, but it was marred by bad performances.
The NFL awarded the new Cowboys' stadium this year's Super Bowl, and after a week in North Texas, they may never bring the big game back there again.
The game itself was the best part of the week/weekend, proving all the other events are just fluff, and we should never forget the game is the main focus.
The following slideshow is comprised of the worst performances during Super Bowl Week 2011.
Alex Rodriguez
1 of 10Having to watch Alex Rodriguez get fed popcorn was terrible.
The shot that panned from John Madden texting to A-Rod and Cameron Diaz was atrocious, and it shows that the Super Bowl is just a big reality show.
Things like this make the game irrelevant to most people, and they do it for the people not watching for the actual game.
James Harrison
2 of 10
The Packers knew what they had to do, and it was stop James Harrison.
Harrison is one of the best players in the league, and the Packers knew if they could contain him long enough to keep Aaron Rodgers on his feet, they would have a chance to win the Super Bowl.
Harrison had one tackle, although it was a sack, but overall didn’t put a lot of pressure on Rodgers throughout the game as he picked the Steelers’ defense apart.
North Texas
3 of 10
Believe it or not folks, North Texas has a history of being cold this time of the year.
People were talking about how surprising this was, but snow and cold were expected.
I heard complaining from every announcer and host about the temperature, but none complained about the damage the snow and ice were doing to people and property.
Ben Roethlisberger
4 of 10
Ben Roethlisberger was the ultimate x-factor in the Super Bowl.
Too bad for the Steelers he couldn’t come through this time though.
Big Ben didn’t play terribly, but he didn’t put the game on his shoulders like he has come to be known for.
His interceptions were one of the main reasons the Steelers were down in the first place, so protecting the ball may have put them in a better position in the fourth quarter.
The Commercials
5 of 10There were some good commercials this year, but overall they were very disappointing.
We have come to expect the Super Bowl to have the funniest or most heartwarming commercials of the year. Whatever emotion they try to evoke, the main purpose is to make it memorable.
This year was quite forgettable, minus a few funny spots, including all the Doritos commercials and the heartwarming Volkswagen commercial in the video.
Charles Woodson/ Donald Driver
6 of 10
The Green Bay Packers won the Super Bowl with two of their veteran leaders hobbled on the sideline.
Donald Driver and Charles Woodson were both injured in the first half and had to watch the rest of the game as spectators.
They still got their team pumped up, but it was disappointing to not see them play a bigger part in the victory.
James Jones and Jordy Nelson
7 of 10
James Jones and Jordy Nelson need to get together and buy Aaron Rodgers anything he wants.
Rodgers bailed them out from being out casted for all the drops they had during the Super Bowl.
Combined, the two receivers dropped at least six passes (two of which could have been sure touchdowns) and made the game a lot closer than it had to be.
Nelson had nine catches for 140 yards, but could have had a lot more, and Jones dropped an easy touchdown that would have put the Packers up big.
Super Bowl 2011 Halftime Show
8 of 10I didn’t know much or want to know much about the Black Eyed Peas before this halftime show, and I still don't after it.
They sounded terrible, and the live show seemed a little odd for such a big stage such as the Super Bowl.
Bringing in a bunch of other B-list talent to help wasn’t a good idea either.
Troy Polamalu
9 of 10
Troy Polamalu was a non-factor in the Super Bowl, and that was one of the biggest disappointments.
Polamalu can be the biggest difference maker on the field at any given moment, but you could tell he wasn’t 100 percent.
The absence of his explosiveness is one of the main reasons Rodgers was able to really pick their defense apart.
Christina Aguilera
10 of 10Christina Aguilera was terrible.
Not only did she disgrace the national anthem by forgetting lyrics and misplacing others, the sound of her voice missing all those notes made my blood boil.
A better alternative would have been to have a military choir or an active soldier sing instead of a bloated ex-star.
