Roberto Alvarez-GallosoFeb 6, 2011

William Morais (the Corinthian Midfielder on loan to America, a club located in Belo Horizonte) was killed in a robbery attempt. According to the investigation, he returned home from a party and was attacked and killed.

The police announced the arrest of three suspects in connection with the killing. Morais started his career with Corinthians and scored one goal within the previous year for the team.

The team finished in third place in the Brazilian League season before Morias was loaned to America.

William Morais was 19 years old when he was killed, and it is an injustice what has happened. It is a crime that this continues in the world.

I feel at times a sense of sadness, like when I reported on the death of Thiago Jotta Da Silva more than two years ago.

While feeling the sadness, I also feel the need to report this out of a sense of the need to address the issue of senseless killings regardless of who is the victim.

I also report these stories in order to show that not everything in sports is perfect. My heartfelt condolences for the family of Morais, Brazil, Corinthians and America.
