NFL: Week 3 Predictions

Brandon WrightSep 20, 2008

This is something I should have been doing for a while, so I may as well start it now! I won't pretend to have the crystal ball... I am just taking a shot at these.

So here we go...

KC @ ATL
My pick: ATL
KC has no QB, so don't expect them to run up many points. Matt Ryan should have a good game.

OAK @ BUF
My pick: BUF
As a Raiders fan it is hard to write that, but when you look at this game you see that the Bills are hot right now and the Raiders are banged up on offense pretty bad. Fargas (RB) is doubtful (groin), McFadden (RB) is probable (toe), Walker (WR) is probable (hamstring), and Harris (OT) doubtful (knee). I hope I am wrong, but I have to call it as I see it!

TB @ CHI
My pick: CHI
Even though Hester is listed as questionable, the Bears defense should dominate this game. The Buc's still don't really know who their QB is and that will hurt them offensively. The Bears offense is nothing to celebrate either, so expect this to be low scoring at best!

CAR @ MIN
My pick: CAR
Adrian Peterson (RB) is listed as questionable, if he does not play, or is not 100%, the Vikings offense will not be the same. Heck, the only thing that their offense really has is AP, so this could get ugly!

MIA @ NE
My pick: NE
Matt Cassel is has been playing a conservative game and if there is any game to open up the playbook it is this one!

CIN @ NYG
My pick: NYG
The Bengals have been pretty bad, the Giants have been pretty good. We all know that the Bengals can put up points so this can flip flop! But, it is in New York and the Giants offense has been playing well with the home crowd.

HOU @ TEN
My pick: TEN
The Titans may actually be a better team with Collins instead of Vince Young. And that will not go well for the Texans. Look for Chris Johnson to have another big game for the Titans; this is a special rookie RB!

ARI @ WAS
My picks: WAS
The Skins lost to the Jets in week 1 and got a big win over the Saints last week. The Cards have not played any good teams yet; they beat the 49ers and Dolphins. So, traveling to Washington D.C. this week will expose them to a decent team that has already played some tough games. Look for Clinton Portis to have a big game.

NO @ DEN
My pick: DEN
I am looking at a shootout in this one. The Broncos offense has looked awesome the last two weeks. Rookie Eddie Royal (WR) is an exciting guy to watch and every time Cutler lets the ball fly, it seems to end up with Royal. The combination of Reggie Bush, Drew Brees and Jeremy Shockey should put a lot of points on the board. The Saints defense is injury plagued right now and the Broncos are riding high.

DET @ SF
My pick: SF
I almost fell asleep trying to make this pick! LOL! The funny thing is this game can actually be anything but! It will come down to the QB play in this one!

STL @ SEA
My pick: SEA
The Rams are bad... enough said.

CLE @ BAL
My pick: BAL
The Ravens have a vicious defense but a suspect offense. Flacco will be a good QB, and should play well against the Browns this week. If they can control the ball on offense and do what they do best on defense, make plays and shut down offenses, they will be fine. The Browns have a very good offense and can put a lot of points on the board. Their problem this week will be the pressure that the Ravens bring every down!

JAC @ IND
My pick: IND
The Colts still have Manning, so it will be almost impossible to not pick them. The Jags are one team that can beat them however. If the Jags can run the ball, slow down the game and keep Manning on the sidelines, they will have a chance.

PIT @ PHI - Game of the Week
My Pick: PHI
These teams match-up very well against each other. McNabb may have better passing numbers than Roethlisberger, but in terms of controlling the game, they are pretty even. Westbrook is can do it all, Parker can too. The Steelers have the edge on the receiving corp., but don't think the rookie Jackson for Philly won't try to poke holes in that theory. Defenses are pretty good for both, yet PIT is pretty banged up. The home field advantage should go to Philly, but they do share the same state and 300 miles won't detour too many fans from making the trip! This should be a close game all the way through, but look for the Eagles to pull it out late with the help of a big play!

DAL @ GB
My pick: DAL
The first major test for Aaron Rodgers comes this week against the Cowboys; Lucky for Rodgers it is in the comfort of his own stadium. The Boys are probably the best team in football right now and are out to prove it once again this week. Romo will have to deal with one of the better secondary’s in football with Charles Woodson and Al Harris; assuming Woodson can play with the toe injury he is dealing with. Both Defenses are pretty good and will give fans a good idea of how good these offenses really are!

NYJ @ SD - Monday Night Football
My pick: SD
After the being "cheated" out of a win last week in Denver the Chargers will be looking to come out and get this win and get back on track as they have fallen to 0-2 on the season thus far. Brett Favre on Monday night is usually a safe bet... but then again so was Green Bay NEVER trading him! Favre can make magic happen, and the Chargers will have to do their best to not let that happen. If SD is going to be successful, they will need to get Tomlinson involved and rolling early and often. Even with Rivers putting up good numbers the last two weeks, the Chargers have not been able to get a win.
