Super Bowl 2011: Five Recipes To Spice Up Your Super Bowl Party

Have you ever been to one of those Super Bowl parties, or any party for that matter, where you find yourself looking down at the spread and thinking, "Man, I should have eaten before I got here."?

Nothing can kill your enthusiasm for the festivities faster than a lame game day spread. Burgers, hot dogs, chips and dip are great—if you want to be just like every other party on your block. If the objective of any party should be for people to have fun and leave a memorable impression on your guests, then you'll need to step up your game this Super Bowl Sunday.

I for one like to shake things up when I have people over for the big game.

Show up to my Super Bowl party with a bag of some Frito Lay product or some random cheese dip in a bottle, and I'm likely to send you back home.

The truth is there's really only one rule for my Super Bowl party guests, and that is, do not bring anything. The Super Bowl party should be four to five hours of continuous snacking, drinking and good natured ribbing.

Variety is the key when it comes to planning. How many people will be attending? And if these are your closest friends, what are their drink/food preferences?

Stock up on your drinks of choice—beer, wine, liquor, soda, etc. Meat dishes are a must—you can't go wrong with ribs and chicken wings—, throw in a vegetable dish for good measure, some chips and dip of some sort and something light for the ladies.

Then hope the game lives up to the hype.
