2011 NFL Draft: Top 10 WRs and Their NFL Counterparts
The wide receivers coming into the NFL are a wide variety of talents.
But like any other draft class, there will be those receivers that performed either as expected, as surprises or as disappointments.
We're going to look at the Top 10 receivers in the draft and try and make comparisons with current stars in the NFL.
The breakdown will fall along the lines of height and weight, speed, and ability to catch the ball.
Attitude and ego are too unpredictable, so we're not going to bother to go there.
10. Dwayne Harris And Santonio Holmes
1 of 10
Dwayne Harris is not even 5' 11" tall, according to his college measurables, but he weighs in at a solid 202 lbs.
That guy is pure muscle and he can make acrobatic catches.
This sounds like a certain Jets wide receiver who is under six feet and is known for making catches outside of his frame.
9. Matt Szczur And Hines Ward
2 of 10
Matt Szczur is good getting open, can make plays through traffic, and is known to throw a block or two when someone else catches the ball.
Hines Ward is famous for throwing blocks, sometimes season-ending blocks, on plays where he doesn't have the ball in his hands.
8. Titus Young And Donald Driver
3 of 10
Titus Young plays with a lot of heart, works at his game and has great skills when making defenders miss.
He can get you yards after the catch like Green Bay wide receiver Donald Driver.
7. Greg Little And Dwayne Bowe
4 of 10
Greg Little is a great athlete and shows natural talent for the position.
He has great body awareness and control, can get to the ball through defenders and has good hands.
Dwayne Bowe possess a lot of those same characteristics.
6. Jerrel Jernigan And Wes Welker
5 of 10
Like Wes Welker, Jernigan is undersized but fast.
Jernigan won't win the vertical battle, but once he has the ball in his hands, he's gone and you're not going to catch him.
5. Torrey Smith And Roddy White
6 of 10
Torrey Smith, like Roddy White, is very fast, makes good cuts and doesn't drop the ball.
Smith can break away from coverage, runs good routes and has the talent to be the next Roddy White.
4. Tandon Doss And Joshua Cribbs
7 of 10
Tandon Doss is projected to be a better kick returner than a wide receiver. He plays hard and does anything he has to in order to be on the field.
Sounds like a certain Pro Bowl player in Cleveland named Joshua Cribbs.
3. Jonathan Baldwin And Calvin Johnson
8 of 10
Like Calvin Johnson, Jonathan Baldwin is a physical freak. His long strides make him a legitmate vertical threat and downfield threat.
His size means he can fight off defenders and he has the talent and ball skills to make an immediate impact in his rookie year.
2. Julio Jones And Braylon Edwards
9 of 10
One Word: Drops.
Both Jones and Edwards make big plays, both thrive in the spotlight, but both receivers are just as likely to drop the easy pass as they are to catch the big play.
Edwards really improved this year when it came to not dropping the ball, but we'll see how Jones does his rookie year.
1. A.J. Green And Darrius Heyward-Bey
10 of 10
A.J. Green has roughly the same height and build as Heyward-Bey.
Heyward-Bey is faster, but both possess a similar "look" in how they run routes and break free of coverage.
Green projects as a better overall prospect, but Heyward-Bey hasn't been a disappointment in Oakland.
