Recent and five-time Australian Open doubles champions, the Bryan brothers were forced out of next week's Brasil Open due to Bob Bryan suffering an injury in his left shoulder.

Bob did not mention it in his interview after the final but Mike said after the victory, "We always come in here fresh and healthy. We play kind of an arduous schedule. Like we're going down to Brazil in a week to play Costa do Sauipe. So we play nasty schedule. Sometimes we get worn down by the middle of the year."

They got worn down sooner than they thought. Bob has been dealing with the injury for his three last matches and had to take strong pain medication to get through it. Bob and Mike Bryan beat Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi 6-3, 6-4

It was announced Wednesday that Bob Bryan incurred the shoulder injury at the Australian Open while playing mixed doubles with Liezel Huber. He will most likely have to take a month off to recover. They will not lose points by not participating in the tournament because they have never played in Brazil prior.
