South African Tennis Open: Top Seeds Fall in First Rounds

So far at the SA Tennis Open in Johannesburg, South Africa, six of the top eight seeds were defeated out of the draw.

The only seeds left in the draw are 4th-seed SA native Kevin Anderson, who will play Dudi Sela, and 6th-seed Adrian Mannarino.Milos Raonic, Aussie's favorite Canadian, took out the 2nd-seed Yen-Hsun Lu and 5th-seed Florent Serra was crushed by Jamaican Dustin Brown on Tuesday.

The seeds fell like flies on Wednesday.

Defending champion of the SA Tennis Open title and 1st-seed Feliciano Lopez was ousted by Frank Dancevic, the Canadian World No. 234, 6-7, 6-2, 7-6. Lopez failed to convert ten break points chances.

After a rain delay between the match, Davis Cup champion and 3rd-seed Janko Tipsarevic lost in three close sets to the World No. 120 Jesse Huta Galung from the Netherlands, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6. 

7th-seed Rainer Schuettler and 8th-seed Michal Przysiezny continued the downward spiral. Germany's Schuettler was given a goodbye by smooth server Go Soeda, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. SA native and wild card Rik de Voest took out Przysieszny by saving seven-of-eight break points.

After defeating the top seeds, not all of the victors stayed around long, Raonic was chopped by Simon Gruel, Brown fell to Izak Van Der Merwe and Huta Galung was taken out by India's Somdev Devvarman.
