Lights, Camera, Gary Pinkel! Missouri Coach Absorbing More National Exposure

Matt ThielSep 19, 2008
If you've watched much ESPN the last week, you've probably heard Missouri mentioned quite frequently. It's been surreal to hear the Tigers consistently mentioned in the same breath as USC and Oklahoma when analysts have been discussing the most impressive teams in college football. Only three short years ago I would get excited if the Tigers got a top 25 vote. We've come a long way.
But ESPN isn't going to drop into a prevent defense any time soon when covering the Tigers.
No, they're going to continue to blitz by flying Gary Pinkel in to appear on a number of ESPN radio and television shows. Pinkel's day on The Network's campus will include an appearance on ESPN2's First Take, a live chat on ESPN.com, an appearance with Mike Tirico and Scott Van Pelt's radio show (whose podcast I subscribe to), and appearances on College Football Live and ESPNews.
That's big time, my friends. I just hope the team pulls out the win against Buffalo. Can you imagine how awkward that's going to be if the Tigers somehow get upset?
Hazelwood's most wanted is encouraging Mizzourah readers to flood the chat (which is scheduled for a 10:30 a.m. CT kick) with questions that mention Mizzourah. HMW is hoping for at least five references. Hell, I'd settle for one. We can be subtle about this. For example, you could ask:
"I was reading on the blog Mizzourah the other day that you mentioned at your weekly radio show that you are hoping William Moore will be back to 100 percent after two full weeks of rest. How is his foot healing, and do you expect him to be at full strength for Nebraska?
-Truman, Columbia MO"
We can do this, guys. You have no idea what a boost Tim Griffin gave to our hits-per-day average. There's no reason we shouldn't be joining Pinkel in the spotlight.
