Tyrod Taylor and Beamer Ball Have a Good Chance in Weak ACC

In its four years as a member of the ACC, Virginia Tech has won two conference championships and two divisional championships.

The Hokies' chances of repeating as ACC Champs this year looked possible but unlikely as Clemson was the clear favorite in the conference, but their loss to Alabama in Week One broke the conference race back open.

Tech lost its most successful class in school history after last season, and many positions now have huge question marks.

No WRs have stepped up to replace Eddie Royal, Josh Morgan, and Josh Hyman. Because of this, both Sean Glennon and Tyrod Taylor are struggling to get the passing game going.

Also, the loss All-ACC running back Brandon Ore due to behavior problems has Tech struggling to find a true starter at the position.

That being said the Hokies have an excellent chance to win the ACC Coastal Division yet again.

The conference, especially the Coastal Division, is extremely weak this year, allowing this weakened version of the Hokies to look like the class of the division.

The loss to ECU in the season opener looked bad for the Hokies, but as the season develops, the loss looks a lot less devastating. After a good win against divisional rival Georgia Tech, the Hokies have already established themselves as a force in the ACC.

The Hokies showed that Beamer Ball is alive and well so far this season, and that should be a comforting thought for fans of the Maroon and Orange. Even though the passing game looks absolutely anemic Tyrod Taylor has shown that he can move the ball when a score is needed.

Also the offensive line looked impressive, only allowing one sack against a Georgia Tech team with the most highly touted pass rusher in the NCAA.

If Tech can keep the momentum from the Georgia Tech game and continue to win against North Carolina this weekend, the Hokies will be right on track for another ACC Championship game and maybe even the conference title.
