Racing at Santa Anita With Marc Doche: Beach May Be The Only Better Place
Ahead of one of the highlight days of the meet with tomorrow’s Sunshine Millions, an eight-race card awaits on a glorious afternoon at Santa Anita. Crystal clear blue skies and temperatures in the mid-70's are sure to make our Friday afternoon a winning one.
We’ve gone a little deep in today’s late Fity Cent Pick 4 sequence and will hope for a couple of prices to end the week long drought and bring home a nice score.
We’re off to the races!
Best Bet of the Day (ROI based off $2 WPS bet)
Race 7 - #1 Summer Games (10/1 ML) – With a race under her belt, this four-year-old daughter of Limehouse should be set for a better effort after an impressive pair of five furlong moves in the morning. The addition of blinkers on the stretch out could have her on a lonely lead in a race void of much other speed. Her only other try going two turns came here in the Grade I Las Virgenes last year.
Yesterday’s Result – Place peanuts with Red Door Drive (-$.20)
Total for 2010-11 Santa Anita meet – (-$33.50)
Late Pick 4
Leg 1 – Race 5 (4,5,6,8,9) – Older females run five and a half furlongs in this $12,500 claiming event and we’ll go five deep.
Leg 2 – Race 6 (2,4,7) – Down the six and a half furlongs on the hillside turf course with $50,000 claimers and we’ll use three.
No. 2 Get Funky is a classy old dude who has earned over $700,000 in his career and makes his return after being away since September at Del Mar. He has a two wins and a pair of seconds over this layout and won twice sprinting at this level at Hollywood Park last year.
No. 4 Sassou will have another theft on his mind on the front end and only Hidden Blessing to his outside has a shot to keep up with him early.
No. 7 Details R Sketchy faces weaker today than he has in his last three and has been training up a storm since last seen five weeks ago.
Leg 3 - Race 7 (1,3,5) – Along with our best bet of the day in this allowance optional claiming event going a mile and a sixteenth on the main track, we’ll use No. 3 Lea the Punisher, who will likely sit in second early, and No. 5 Makoma, who was always cut out to be something nice and has a solid work tab since she last raced in early December.
Leg 4 – Race 8 (1,2,3,5,7) – Bottom level older females run a mile on the main track on the main track and we’ll again go five deep.
Recap – (4,5,6,8,9) w (2,4,7) w (1,3,5) w (1,2,3,5,7) – Total cost of ticket = $112.50
