Week Three: The Picks are in.

Orlando MoralesSep 17, 2008

Last week wasn't a strong one for me, 9-6 with the predictions, hoping for some better luck this week though, here are the Picks:

FALCONS over Chiefs:  While Atlanta is by far not a playoff team, they are a better team than the Chiefs. Matt Ryan and Michael Turner should both have big games in this one as the Chiefs defense is terrible.

BILLS over Raiders:This is just a simple case of one team having more talent at more positions than the other. Buffalo could be the surprise team of the year and has a legitimate shot at stealing the division away from the Patriots for the first time since 2002. Oakland is just in a state of disarray at this point and will take some time to develop some chemistry although they have a strong ground attack with Mcfadden and Bush.

BEARS over Buccs:  Tamp just doesn't have the weapons right now to compete with the Bears defense. The Tampa defense is aging a bit and is prone to big plays. Matt Forte could have a big day along with the Defense.

PANTHERS over Vikings:  Minnesota's pass defense is horrible, and Carolina gets star wide out Steve Smith back. Carolina will prove to have just too many weapons this weekend, although Adrian Peterson could rack up the yards and Gus Ferotte could revive the Vikings passing attack. But I just don't see that happening.

GIANTS over Bengals:  Another week, another easy opponent fed to the hungry beast that is the New York Giants defense. This should be another game in which the Giants utterly dominate the Bungles. Eli will have a huge game on the Cincy secondary and brandon Jacobs will run through the weak Bengals defense.

PATRIOTS over Dolphins: Matt Cassel should dominate this weak defense of the dolphins again. the Dolphins suck, period, end of story.

TITANS over Texans:  They may not be pretty, but you can't deny that the Titans find ways to win. Kerry Collins could be the guy to lead the Titans back to the promise land. This game may not be a blow out, but I believe Tennessee will eventually come out on top.

CARDINALS over Redskins :  This is a really tough game to pick. We know what what Arizona is capable of on offense, but really haven't seen much from their defense. Washington is still trying to develop an identity as a legitimate contender in the NFC east and really has struggled on defense. I see the Cardinals winning this game late.

BRONCOS over Saints:  This will be another high scoring affair in the Mile High on sunday. Both defenses can't stop anybody and the offenses of both teams are dynamic. But without Marques Colston, I see the Saints straggling behind a bit in this one and won't be able to keep up with the high powered Broncos.

49ERS over Lions:  Boy what a bevy of football superiority in this one huh? If you took that quote in seriousness, please stop reading. Defense is the name of the game, and I think the Niners will be able to stop the talented Lions offense. And Frank Gore will have a a huge day for all you fantasy nuts out there.

RAMS over Seahawks: If you can call this game an upset, then that's what it is. I think that Torry Holt and company come out of their shell this week and take the Seahawks down for the first time since 2004. But yet another showcase of football dominance in this one.......once again, not being serious for all you literals out there.

RAVENS over BrownsI'm calling it now, the Browns and Derek Anderson were a fluke last year and if they can't beat the Ravens on Sunday, that will certainly prove that theory right. They certainly are a talented team, but they don't have the defense to compete in this league, even though they shut down the mighty Steelers on Sunday night.

COLTS over Jaguars: Something just doesn't look right in Jacksonville, where is the dominance that their defense played with last year? Where is the mistake free play of David Garrard? Where is that powerful yard munching ground game? The tremendous comeback Peyton Manning an company engineered last week may be the game that propels their game to another level and that's why I see them winning over Jacksonville this Sunday.

EAGLES over Steelers:  Pittsburgh enters the Linc on Sunday to battle an angry, upset bunch of Eagles after they gave the Monday night thriller away in Dallas. Dallas had the third ranked defense in the NFL in 2007 and improved that defense for the 2008 season. Yet the Eagles were still able to march repeatedly up and down the field on them. I don't see the Steelers defense doing that this Sunday and Willie Parker will have to do battle with a run defense that has shut down two of the leagues premier backs in Steven Jackson and Marion Barber. I say the Eagles win in a close upset this week.

COWBOYS over Packers:  People I don't see this one being close at all. Dallas is the real deal this year, and as much as I despise the Cowboys, that team is for real and they should handle the Pack in Green Bay on Sunday Night. Tony Romo and T.O, along with Jason Witten could have a field day with the Packer secondary if they don't show up.

CHARGERS over jetsJets fans, be prepared to be let down again. I don't see the New York Bretts overcoming the Chargers this coming Monday as the potent San Diego offense welcomes the Jets to Qualcom Stadium. I think it will be bit of a shootout that will come down to who makes the most mistakes, I'm betting on the Chargers in this one.
